  1. Dear Jeep, please don't make a "weird" hybrid version of the Wrangler...

Ohh I agree with you... But I think like an old school driver. Just saying that I think things will change a lot and our way our driving will too. I like driving, but I can also see driving becoming autonomous. Already the fun is out of my driving because I can't get a manual in most cars and...
  2. Dear Jeep, please don't make a "weird" hybrid version of the Wrangler...

I heard about BEV Wranglers a long time ago. Wish I could find that link... How does Tesla handle snow and ice? - they have a cold weather proving ground outside of Fairbanks, AK and they seem to brag about how well they do in the snow and ice. As far as regen and slippery stuff - other plug ins...
  3. So I begrudgingly got a JL...

Thanks for the info on the plan. I bet it was cheaper than $5500 because you rolled it into financing. I've usually come out "tied" when I do extended warranty's, but the peace of mind is worth it. As I tell people when they don't like what I own/drive - you don't have to drive it or ride in...
  4. Avoid the diesel?

IMHO, in 10 years we might not even be able to buy a non-phev and in 15 years probably only electric vehicles. I'l throw in a fuel cell possibility, but I still don't see enough buy in for that technology yet. Hydrogen has some hurdles to overcome as well. Always thought a PHEV diesel would be...
  5. So I begrudgingly got a JL...

What's that warranty cost? I love the color - nice new ride!
  6. Avoid the diesel?

Yep. Diesel is a trade off. No longer do you have the days of way cheaper diesel fuel and the same maintenance you have with a gas motor. The greater torque, generally greater towing capacity (Canyon/Colorado diesel being an exception) and better mileage for a longer range are what you get. I...
  7. What is JLU's actual fuel tank capacity?

As I look into buying a JLU... Are there aftermarket larger fuel tanks for JLUs? I'm a "when the tank is 1/2 full, I start looking for a convenient place/time to top off" person too. I also end up keeping a lot of fuel at the house for two reasons, one is that I get grocery/fuel points and like...
  8. Diesel finally coming in November?

Even the smaller than 3.0L diesel motors have to have DEF... It's the only way to get the NoX levels low enough. Honda thought they had a passive system that would be in compliance, but ultimately it didn't pan out. At least in the smaller motors a couple of gallons of DEF lasts a long time...
  9. Curious - MT

That stinks. Although if memory serves me right Ram even go rid of all manual options in their trucks.
  10. Mopar Maximum Care Unlimited Miles Warranty

What are the costs and is there a dealer that gives discounts on these plans?
  11. Dear Jeep, please don't make a "weird" hybrid version of the Wrangler...

Agree with all of the above... FWIW, Tesla has a conversion plug so their cars can use DCFC or the standard L1/L2 stuff - just not the other way around (yet). It's like Apple is finally going to USB-C instead of their proprietary charge plug. Disappointed if Rivian goes to their own charge...
  12. Dear Jeep, please don't make a "weird" hybrid version of the Wrangler...

Battery tech is evolving and faster charge times are coming. I've been followig battery tech and IMHO, solid state batteries are coming. It might stil be a good 5-10 years away though. good thing is that they are a lot safer than today's Li-Ion ones. Another area that needs improving is power...
  13. ...2020 PHEV: but is it "worth it"

So here's my thought - coming from someone that has always wanted to own a Wrangler and is looking to get into his first one. We owned a Chevy Volt for 3 years on a lease. I drove it from South Florida to Alaska, put 30k total miles on it, and we managed to eek out an average of over 100 miles...
