  1. Steering locked up when going around a curve

Sorry to hear about your experience. I've had a similar experience in regards to rectifying terrible steering. After getting the run around from 3 different dealers, I hired a lawyer. I'll be steering clear of the Jeep brand from now on.
  2. What actually _is_ normal steering?

Rdmitch summed it up perfectly. A portion of the JL's are just plain horrible to drive, way outside the purview of what's acceptable for a Jeep. The fact that that there's a TSB that replaces the aluminum steering box with a cast iron one tells you everything you need to know. Not to mention...
  3. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

For the past couple years many Jeep owners have been complaining about the dangerously loose steering. Those that spoke up about it got push back from many dealers and ridiculed by members on this forum... "It's a jeep thing", "you shouldn't be driving a jeep, ya sissy", "It's single axle...
  4. 2021 JLU Already Towed to Dealer at 114 miles on the odo. Owned less than 2 hours... WTH

Welcome to the Jeep Life. My new Jeep spent weeks at different dealers trying to fix steering issues, rear axle issues. etc. Jeep's buying it back.
  5. FCA quality control!!!!

I agree. Every other vehicle I've owned under warranty was fixed by the dealers without hassle. FCA dicked me and many others around for a year regarding bad steering boxes and other issues. Instead of helping out customers with vehicles under warranty, they told us all "it'a Jeep thing". I...
  6. FCA quality control!!!!

I agree with your universal outlook but customer service still means something to many people. Stuff breaks, people make mistakes, someone has a bad day on the assembly line... I get that. The world ain’t perfect but it’s the response, or lack thereof, to try and make it right that goes a...
  7. FCA quality control!!!!

My 2020 Jeep is being bought back by Chrysler as they couldn't fix the horrible steering or the metal clanking sounds coming from the front and rear end. Major problems with steering boxes & Dana 44 rear axles, lots of threads on here. My lawyer of 30 years said that Chrysler has ranked dead...
  8. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Nope, that's definitely not the steering box. That's the differential case.
  9. New Jersey PSC BIG BORE XD -JL Overlander Steering Kit ($1,500 + Shipping)

I don't believe it is ported since I didn't ask for that option.
  10. New Jersey PSC BIG BORE XD -JL Overlander Steering Kit ($1,500 + Shipping)

Haven't been on the forum in a while. I still have it, though it's gonna cost me about $200 to ship to Continental US.
  11. What actually _is_ normal steering?

Start documenting all correspondences and repair orders just in case it's not you that is the problem but the actual jeep. Many mods and buybacks being made for faulty steering boxes.
  12. Motor Trend confirms steering issue fix made to 2020 Jeep JL (gear valve tuning & pump calibration changes)

Nope, it just spent a couple weeks at the dealer. When I picked it up, nothing had been done to it. nope. Never admitted a problem. Created a STAR case that was quickly closed once a Chrysler engineer supposedly got involved.
  13. Motor Trend confirms steering issue fix made to 2020 Jeep JL (gear valve tuning & pump calibration changes)

Nah. It's not my job to fix a new vehicle and void the warranty. Also, many people who have done this have said that the looseness returned after a couple thousand miles. I'll let my lawyer handle it from here.
  14. Motor Trend confirms steering issue fix made to 2020 Jeep JL (gear valve tuning & pump calibration changes)

My 2020 Sahara was built in Aug 2019. It's bone stock and has excessive loose steering, way worse than any JK's and other JL's I've driven. It's impossible to remain in your lane on the highway. The fact that FCA refuses to acknowledge there's a problem but is supposedly working on a software...
  15. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

I was being totally sarcastic in the previous comment. My Jeep is dangerous on the highway and am trying to get it rectified. I'll be going to a 4th dealer soon in my attempt at fixing it. The humor lies in the fact that FCA refuses to publicly admit that there's an underlying steering...
  16. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

But there's no problem with JL steering, loose steering "is a Jeep thing" so why are they revising and bulking up the steering box? Why revise something if there's no problem with it?
  17. FCA lack of quality check

I do agree with you from a consumer choice perspective. Most purchasing decisions in life offer the consumer the choice to purchase competing brands. I was over simplifying it a bit. Currently there are no other truck convertibles on the market that can also Offroad competently.
  18. FCA lack of quality check

I agree with this 100%. I was willing to let some things slide in regards to quality control as there is currently no competition to the wrangler. I was willing to put in some work & some aftermarket parts on my jeep to "fix" it. The problem is, a lot of these vehicles cost over $50k and...
  19. 2019 JL steering doesn’t return to center

I'd insist that your dealer or another dealer fix it. Many on this forum throw parts at a problem trying to fix terrible steering on their jeeps. If you put aftermarket parts on your Jeep dealers will refuse to diagnose any problems until you take the aftermarket parts off, so don't bother...
