  1. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Hi John, That's classified, don't want to draw any flack or put this thread onto another tangent ;) All I'll say is it's definitely not the new LR Defender, as my one experience of being an early adopter ended pretty badly and I don't want a repeat performance. It's going to be models that are...
  2. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

If the fix was inexpensive I think they would have gotten on top of this by by now. My hunch is that the chassis mounting points for the steering box and track rod may be flexing on SOME vehicles. If your steering is set up nicely it's barely noticeable, but if the alignment is off and the...
  3. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

I admire your brand loyalty, but you need to ease off the 'it's normal'. To survive in the rapidly changing 21st Century Motor Industry Jeep needs it's customers to think that they're moving with the times and improving with each new model, not churning out the same negative characteristics. If...
  4. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Regardless of any of the assertions that this is primarily an off-road vehicle, I still think that any passenger vehicle with a wheel on all four corners and a 50k+ price tag should handle with confidence in stock form. Particularly one that was designed from scratch in the last four years and...
  5. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Well after a year of crappy steering and electrical gremlins I'm out. Took a bath and traded the '18 JLUR for another capable 4x4 with demonstrably better road manners. Decided life was too short and that I'd never be able to lower my acceptance standards to the point where I'd be able to agree...

How about.... Wanderer? Drifter? Ironicon? :like:
  7. Is there a true fix for the Steering/Wandering issue?

The thermal coefficient of steel is half that of aluminium. So in the cold the aluminium housing will shrink in length twice as much as any of the steel components inside. The theory is that if the box has excess play, the 'contraction' of the alu housing serves to reduce the slop in the...
  8. Is there a true fix for the Steering/Wandering issue?

Buddy you're going to get some stick for that comment :bandit:
  9. Is it my bad luck or are all UK Jeep Service Dealers useless?

I’ve contacted Jeep Customer Care in Italy a few times when I haven’t been happy with the amount of progress from my local dealer. They’re pretty efficient and courteous but it’s clear that they don’t have absolute authority over the dealer. Their relationship seems to be more like arbitrator...
  10. 2021 Ford Baby Bronco Scout

Yes, the artist has started with a Jimny for their rendering, the doors and wing mirrors are identical
  11. 2021 Ford Baby Bronco Scout

Don't get too excited, that's just a poor re-working of a Suzuki Jimny
  12. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Hi what was the fate of your old OEM steering box? Did anyone take a look at it and figure out if it was the main cause of your steering play?
  13. Boing!

Regarding speaker buzz, this is the definitive thread on the subject and the 'business card' fix certainly fixed mine once I figured out it was the same loose connector buzzing behind the dash speaker https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/speaker-issue.6166/ Skip to 6:33 on this video...
  14. Boing!

Nope sadly it's not that as I've already fixed the buzzing charlie brown drivers side speaker issue! I've also driven around with the radio switched off to discount that from the investigation. Thanks for replying though :like:
  15. Boing!

I've a new vibration that's just started up on my JLUR and it's driving me nuts! Once in a while when I hit a bump or uneven surface on the road I get a weird vibration and noise that comes up from the front wheels and through the steering column. It's nothing like the dreaded 'death wobble'...

  18. Changing loose steering box for the new one AE

You guys been over to the JT forum lately? There’s a steering thread on there where a guy has videoed the steering box/pitman arm while a friend turns the wheel and you can clearly see the chassis crossmember flexing where it’s bolted to the steering box. I think he may be onto something.
  19. No death wobble until AFTER V41

Hi Rob, Did you check to see if it had been installed upside down? They have to be the right way up to work.
