No, I was never able to find anyone with an extra set. I haven't replaced the wheels and tires yet. I did go to a third shop and had them check my alignment after I installed the teraflex control arms. Alignment was good, and they rebalanced my tires, this time with the clip on weights on the...
no I replaced that a while ago. The only two things left really are the pro comp steel wheels and the synergy tie rod. I’m kinda wondering if the weight of the wheels is causing the synergy tie rod to develop a dynamic vibration at certain speeds. So maybe it’s both. I’ve got a steersmarts tie...
I’m going to try getting things rebalanced as well. Maybe the tire shop screwed something up. I’m at about 28 PSI, that’s the most comfortable spot, but I definitely tried a ton of pressures, up to 40, down as low as 24. Maybe it’s time to get the wifey to let me buy new aluminum wheels! Hahaha
No unfortunately. I took it to a local off-road shop to have them drive it and take a look at things. They did find one of my drag link ends had gone bad. I was hoping that was it…just replaced it, but the vibration (which is more like a pulsing rather than a vibration) is still there. It’s less...
So I’m back at it, replaced the ball joints, and upgraded from the JKS adjustable track bar to the steer smarts yeti. That annoying vibration is still there, and the ride quality is absolute garbage on southern Cali roads/freeways.
at this point I don’t know what else to do or check. Nothing...
Thanks, guess I’ll be doing ball joints the next opportunity I get. In all the research I came across the Dynatrac rebuildable ones. Little more expensive but I like only having to press them in once and not having to continually replace the whole thing.
So I’ve been looking around all day on YouTube trying to figure out if this could be from bad ball joints. I really need a jack to test it in most videos I’ve seen.
You're right though, I’m about out of options. Andas I’ve thought about it and reread some of the other posts (usually about death...
Yeah I mean at this point I’ve got the SD springs on order (plus I got taller springs). Once those are in I guess the next thing is the ball joints. I was really just hoping it would be easy and/or my imagination...but I know it ain’t right. I guess this is the joy of owning a jeep
I forgot to mention, I have tried tire pressures from 36psi all the way down to 25psi. Currently at 28psi, which seems to be kinda the sweet spot. Vibration less noticeable and the ride quality is better.
Ok...so I’m sure I’m beating a dead horse, and steering issues have been discussed ad nauseum, but here’s another thread. I have been trying to track this vibration down for months now.
So a little backstory. I have a 2018 JLU Sport S. I purchased Pro-Comp steel “D” window wheels and some Falken...
I put their 2.5” on my JLU Sport with the Fox shocks and it’s definitely taller than 2.5”, closer to like 4”. I did get the HD springs and seriously it’s a very rough ride. Looking at “upgrading” to the 3.5” SD springs. Hopefully a better ride without losing the extra height from the HD springs.
So made the trip down to America’s Tire in Palm Springs. They did the road force balancing on all five. Afterwards they said the balance was way off.... it seemed to have done the trick. I don’t feel it as I transition through 55mph on the way to freeway speed like I used to and I can stay at 55...
I ordered June 24th, haven’t gotten a shipment notification yet....hopefully soon. I looked at a bunch of other heavy duty drag links and tie rods (Rusty’s, steer smarts, metal cloak, etc) but most didn’t include shipping costs. I think the Rustys was over $100
