I didn't see your gear ratio above but the stock ratio is 3.45.
The usual 30 carrier break is 3.54 down/3.73 up. You'd expect to use the 3.54 down unit but the JL has a thin ring gear so the 3.73 case is used.
I like the clearance better from Dynatrac and love their ball joints. The 44/60 front (44 diff with 35 sp shafts, all 60 outers) is a fantastic option. I'm sure someone has broken one but I haven't seen it.
FWIW- The weak JK Cs are a major contributor to the ball joint issue. The ball joints can't align properly with each other and add a lot of load to the ball joints.
Ask the axle guys and they will tell you that HP or LP make a big difference in 60 rear set up. In heavy rigs (6k#) they will...
M210/M220 JL and JK Rubi 32 spline are the same diameter at 1.41". The common JK 30 spline is 1.31" and the M200 JL 29 spline rear is 1.24". JL/JT rear shafts (non-Rubicon) are equal length on each side. Rubi JL and JT shafts are unequal. Max Tow JT shafts can be used in a JL or JT Rubi...
IIRC, Dyntrac uses a JK gear set and pumpkin designed originally for a JK. The pumpkin has a cast-in upper control arm bracket that dictates where it is located in the rig. That location, in turn, dictates axle shaft lengths.
The factory front JL Sport diff is a typical 3.73 up design Dana 30 (yes, I know it's a 3.45 gear ratio- it's an unusually thin ring gear, hence the 3.73 up. not 3.54 down case).
My only concern is the axle disconnect feature (FAD) on the front axle assembly. The FAD means that the diff spider...
I don't know about M200 or 220 ELockers engagement but the m186 is a typical Dana 30 diff. It is not a new model but just a common D30 that uses the 19818-010
The ProFloat really minimizes the issue had with both JK and JL/JT rear axles- bent wheel hubs. The JK/JL/JT all have a wheel bearing that is significantly further inboard than the previous TJ Jeeps. I can't really remember seeing a TJ with a bent axle flange. The deeper wheel bearing allows...
Factory front ends don't have them and whatever crap goes in, usually comes out. The axle shaft isn't really fully supported by the seal and the axles do tend to move a bit while steering. I've seen rigs with tube seals have the tubes FILLED with crap. Once they get something in them it will...
I've done a ton of ProRock44 work and this is a fluke. I'd like to know what exactly failed. I've sold 44/60 units (44 R&P with 60 everything else) with zero failures. My guess is that something minor came loose internally which, in turn, caused a catastrophic failure. Pictures will help...
I assume you're talking about a FF 60 rear.
I've had UD60s and Dynatrac 60s and both were very well done. The UD60s were more of a direct bolt-in. The DTs required more custom work for installation. Note: These were not for JL but JK.
I went 5" backspacing with 17" TR beadlocks with 39" KM3s...
After having bead locks for many years, I'd never have anything but a silver ring. The painted rings get trashed and are too noticeable. I take a flap disc to my TR rings every time a tire is dismounted.
