Hello Rich ... I no longer have the FT-8900. The radio I now use is the FTM-300 and it is mounted to an articulating arm from 67 Designs. This keeps the control head away from the shift area.
I've been on the list for the new steering gear since last November.
Called the dealer today and was told that everything is on hold until March 12 ! :swear:

Tim ... I put the body of the radio under the passenger seat. The mic extension box is mounted to the side of the shift selector. I did not secure the mic. A small extension speaker is fastened (hot glue) to the front of the storage console.
Hi Darrell: Electrically, the spare tire area is not the most favorable location.
I use the Mopar light mount on the front. It's very sturdy and will securely hold any antenna.
Just finished installing the Yaesu FTM-300 using the Carbon Fiber Arms & 5mm Offset Mount from 67 Designs and the Grab Bar Ball Mount from Carolina Metal Masters to mount the control head.
Steve ... that antenna is a Comet SBB-14 for 6M / 2M / 440MHz. I also use the longer MFJ-1436B from time to time. It's 60" tall and requires a more sturdy mount, so that's why I went with the MOPAR brackets as opposed to a fender mount.

I sent an inquiry to Insane support and received a prompt reply.

Thanks for the great posts about the JL3001. I'm ready to pull the trigger.
One remaining question ... is the FM radio HD capable ?
I may have missed it in the specifications.
Thanks ...
I've had both the Track Bar and Steering Damper installed.
My dealer showed me the (post-track bar installation) Set-To specifications for the total toe as being 0.20º +/- 0.15º for the Sport, Sahara and Rubicon.
The caster specs on the Sport are 5.35º +/- 1.00º and for the Sahara 5.05º...
