Unfortunately, I have not taken the time to locate the correct replacement part. That being, the very first rail whose metal strap connects to the rivet and failed.
As mentioned previously, the original problem was rivet failing, which I repaired with a screw/nut. The more recent problem is...
As my update states/shows, both sides have now broken from metal fatigue. And unless Jeep knew about this problem and already implemented a change, this will likely haunt every Sky One touch top sold..
The failed broken metal straps seem to be part of the first guide rail, which I am guessing...
With all due respect, owning and testing one out are quite different. Realizing these are not for everyone, I have four years of ownership and not one regret owning . Nothing but positive to report during all four New England seasons on the trail, beach, backroad or highway.
I could provide...
That isn't good. Looks like the roof may have bound up and snapped that section off. That is, unless something hit it while open. Question now is whether this is warranty or you are repairing? Sorry
As I said “inevitable shorting”. Personally, I’ll go with the Z auto bypass cable before taking on the potting procedure. I’m just not that mechanically inclined to tackle the latter.
Thanks. My problems are not with any buttons. All good there. Just the volume related to calls. Radio and announcement volumes are fine. Just calls and this happened AFTER the update occured.
Ever since my system updated, my phone call volume has dropped to where I have to turn it up all the way and even then it is not very loud. Anyone else having this problem?
You do not need to pop the cover off a JL diff. Just unscrew the fill plug to make sure it comes off. Then unscrew the drain plug.
A bit more time required if you are removing any diff diapers you may have....which, in my case, added another half hour to remove both, clean and reinstall...
I do not believe this has been stated yet but one additional benefit to changing diff fluid more frequently on a Rubicon is to avoid the inevitable shorting of the electric locker switch sensor inside the diff resulting from the metal "dust" that accumulates in the oil and onto the switch's...
I purchased the box myself and had my local Jeep dealer install to make sure the reprograming was done, since I could not do this myself. The probability of a bad box is non-zero, I have read in this forum many posts about dealerships swapping but not reprogramming. If you know your rig well...
No. My replacement did not show such signs. Almost sounds like steering damper is not centered correctly. Can you post a picture of your steering linkage? Another thought is they did not reprogram after box install which some people here have seen issues with.
Curious if people on this thread got the chirp to stop. My lifted '18 JLUR with 32K miles recently started making this same noise...not a squeak. Definitely a chirp. Only thing that has changed is the weather got warm. Thx.
I see you live in CO. Any chance a curb may have been tagged one snowy day or large pothole explored during a spring thaw these past few years? If so, ball joints may have finally gone home to mama. And add a proper alignment to your tuning list.
As many have said, steering damper does just...
Been a while but don’t recall removing any covers. Unbolted the seat from the tub. Disconnected wiring. Removed the seat from the rig. Flipped it and oiled the collars. Reverse.
"Very clean" or "You're all set when today's 'blacked out' phase is retired and heavy chrome comes back in style"
Most interesting when you think how little polished chrome components [other than lugs and some interior screws] are available from the factory.
