The contact surface area argument makes sense to me as does the fuel economy vs reliability one. Jeep did not use this bearing in the front axle assembly after all. I haven't had any issues with any part of my axles after 40K+ miles (with the exception of the locker sensors) so the double ball...
Iām on the same boat though I wonāt be doing the gear job until late next year. Would love to get this bearing replaced with a tapered roller bearing. Let us know if you find a good replacement.
Iāve been collecting parts for a gear swap on my ā19 JLUR and Iāve been considering swapping the outer pinion double ball bearing with a tapered roller bearing. Has anyone here done that before? If so, what part did you use?
Follow-up question: are the double ball bearings a source for concern...
Anybody have or know of a clutch install write-up for the JL/JT? Iāve done clutches before but just looking to put eyes on stuff before I rip into my Jeep in the garage to get the Centerforce installed.
Use an allen wrench on the bolt while holing the bracket in a vise; there's a bearing built into the shock mount that the bolt spins on. Since you're turning it from the backside you will go "righty loosey" or clockwise to remove.
Thanks for the info. Just wanted to point out, I was able to remove the mount from the JL version easily using a 10" 3/8 drive breaker bar without heat: maybe something to try out before applying heat.
That sounds much better than my idea. What first came to mind as a solution for this was picking up an off-the-shelf RCA switch that I could filter the different camera inputs through and just tuck that switch away somewhere. Your approach would probably save on space and be more practical. I...

I hope this doesn't also apply to Wranglers... but I think it might :crying:
After 6 days short of 4 months I finally got an email for the build sheet! Does this mean it's finally built, or just getting ready to go through the assembly line?
Thank you for your reply Lateapex,
Those are actually the people I chatted with and I was told they have no way of tracking this order. I have tried tracking the build sheet and window sticker with the VIN but it looks like it can't find them either.
The dealership committed to have the...
How are you guys checking your statuses? I placed my order on 20 Feb and I've just recently got a VIN to show for it. I'm military and stationed overseas so I understand I wouldn't be getting a 5 week delivery like those of you in the States but this is getting ridiculous.
I've chatted with...
