Nobody knows. I ordered mine on 9/3 and picked it up a week ago. Only took 6 weeks. Was a Rubicon with everything added to it. I'm of course one of the lucky ones. Most folks seem to be waiting at least 2-3 months.
I ordered a V6 eTorque Rubicon with everything added to it. I was worried that the gorilla glass may cause me some delays as I heard it did others - but nope. It all arrived as it should.
Was just pinged on that tracking tool in the first page. Looked it up and it was my exact order, downloaded it and saved it. I suspect there isn't really a rhyme or reason for a lot of their processes. Everybody seems to have totally different experience. Me though, if I get it in the next...
9/3 - Order
9/7 - VON and VIN & D status
9/18 - D1
10/4 - Build sheet
10/13 - Window Sticker
10/14 - Released from factory and approved for shipping (no ETA yet - was told to check back in a few days)
10/18 - Delivered and picked up!!!
Huh. Guess my mileage varies then. I’ve had extremely great success with reporting dealerships as well as getting FCA involved. Guess it’s of course different for everyone and anecdotal evidence. I’ve had to do this probably a half dozen times now throughout my 17 vehicle life. Works like a charm.
This is illegal. I’d contact Jeep and the AG office. That’s a bad dealer. Go elsewhere. Even if you install after market it’s literally illegal to void warranties unless they can prove that part caused the issue. Factory bumpers……. Yeah good luck with proving that.
I’d make yourself a bit more...
We simply don't have enough info here to know what caused this. The entire situation should have been handled in this manner:
1. Police/Fire
2. Insurance Company
3. The dealership you got it at to fill them in and give them your insurance companies information
4. FCA America
5. NHTSA
I feel...
100% It's a bitch to do honestly. The dealer quoted me like $600 to do it a few months back. Even if you do it yourself, and are handy, you are looking at a full day to do then you have to take it to the dealer to flash it anyways unless you have one of the Tazer devices that will flash it...
I'd just keep pestering them. Remember, I started this journey in November of '18 and just finished up about a month or so ago. Persistence pays off as I am not 100% satisfied with my Jeep and how it's driving. The steering is perfect, but it took awhile to get there. Your first 1 or 2 visits...
If you're not having the dead zone in your steering wheel, I would say you're fine. There are loads of jeeps that are totally fine. It's a small percentage that are having this steering issue.
Again, I think we are simply just talking about different issues. There are of course 100 issues with steering as there are a multitude of parts that are involved. The "loose steering" and "dead zone" in the steering wheel folks are having is without question, not related to the tires or air...
Just to your last point... there is NOT, at all, anywhere, "VERY consistent anecdotes that changes to the TIRE will improve steering behavior." This is just not true. I'm sorry. If you read any of the mega-thread I'm not even sure there's a single case that swapping tires or adjusting pressure...
I 100% believe 2020 will be all fixed up. From my talks with Chrysler they are completely aware it's an issue, and aren't even denying it. They've released new parts already for the '18-'19 that have the issue.
