Thanks...to do my own troubleshooting, I was running and watching the voltage gauge for a bit to see if there were any anomalous readings when it chimed out. Also, pressed in the fuses (as some reported, quite a few were barely set). Then there is that second battery thing. My service guy...
Mobil1 0W-40 (rated for Porsche Mercedes) easily lubes the very fine tolerances in the first few seconds then maintains its viscosity at high-performance temperatures. Mobil1 0W-20 is a fine oil also. I have a ton of 0W-40 from racing days.
I think there is a lot of common experience around that would attest that dealing with Fiat Chrysler service can be pretty frustrating in dealing with this kind of random non-critical issue. Of course, they cannot replicate the problem in the 15 minutes they troubleshoot the issue. They've got...
I am kind of indifferent, except that it randomly craps out, throws an error code, and then disables my cruise control.
For CAFE standards, I am sure it improves the overall gas mileage in the lab. In the real world, likely no benefit.
New Information on my ESS failure. I had my Jeep serviced today and the mechanic identified the problem as relating to a clutch pedal switch that was not "correlated" to the system and thus required a "correlation correction" to prevent the fault. Obviously, the ESS is tied to a number of...
What a great testimonial to the structural integrity of the JL. Like everyone, glad you are OK.
With the true body on frame construction, it will be hard to fully restore this vehicle without problems in the future. You should press insurance (yours or theirs) for a total loss. The previous...
Believe it or not - and my JL is a 6-speed standard - running higher octane (89) markedly improved the performance of my V6. I believe the higher compression than previous versions of the Pentastar and the computerized octane sensor work well to utilize the higher octane for delayed ignition...
I have driven high-performance cars, like Mustangs and Porsches, for many years on street and track. My go-to oil is Mobil1 0W-40 with a premium quality filter. That is a $40 oil change done in your own garage or driveway using an oil that has the very highest ratings from the best automakers...
That first error...not the second. Mine is behaving better. Please let everyone know what the dealer finds out - I am going to give my dealer a list of things I've checked when I turn my truck in. Otherwise, it might take too much time.
Thanks.
Update...ESS fail came on again. So I did one more thing until I drag it to the dealer. I put a small adhesive round foot on the bottom of the hood where the two switch plungers land. Thinking that one of those might be loose and trigger the ESS fail. I saw a YouTube regarding the...
Today I did three things to fix? the ESS.
1) disconnected and reconnected the door harnesses.
2) ran codes with my OBDII and there were none.
3) touched every fuse and relay and pressed firmly.
#3 resulted in click, click, click - in all about 60% of the fuses and relays were NOT fully seated...
I stalled my Jeep because I attempted to start in 3rd (yes, my fault) at a busy intersection - no biggie, just depress clutch and select first, push button...NOTHING! Reset gear, release and depress clutch, push button --- MORE NOTHING! But the dash sign is blaring "Depress Clutch Pedal."...
Found this thread. My ES/S is randomly flagging the common error and then disabling cruise control. It happens when cold...but never resumes without a restart. I do hate the ES/S but do want cruise control. Any similar experiences. Ultimately do we end up in the Jeep Dealer? Service is the...
Having test driving a JK, I would have to say there is a mild improvement of that series. However, I would still call the JL steering loose compared to other cars and trucks. I was thinking it may be a matter of alignment, a bit more toe-in might solve the problem.
Nice to see this forum and so many Jeep enthusiasts. Honestly, traded my Porsche for my Jeep - who does that?!?!
I'm more of a learner than an expert, as this is my first Jeep.
That was the first disappointment I've noticed in fit and finish on my new Jeep - the wobbly brake handle.
I am going to try tightening the cable to see if it firms up. Beyond that, I don't know.
