Easiest, cheapest way to disable it is to disconnect one of the switches under the hood. Mine has been disconnected for about a year and a half and love it! Good luck whichever way you choose.
I made a round circle with black electric tape and placed it in the same spot as the light on the dash. I forget all about ESS and the light on dash and I forget the tape is even there. Cheap fix and happy ever time I drive my Jeep.
I find ESS to be the most annoying thing on my new Jeep! The best I did was disconnected it and never have to think about it again. Until my Jeep went back in for service and left the Jeep dealer and come to the first stop sign and boom, engine turns off. Oh boy, they reconnected it without...
I just returned home from a 4000 miles trip to the Great Lakes, I had about 6000 miles on my JL, on our first day of vacation driving along some backroads in upstate NY going around 50 when we hit a bump and I thought the wheels were gonna fall off and the whole Jeep started shaking and...
The easiest and cheapest fix, just disconnect the hook switch. So easy and if you want ESS back on, connect switch again. Yes there will be a little orange light on in the upper right hand corner, I cut a small round circle of electrical tape and place it over the light, you can’t see the tape...
Day 2 of the hood switch disconnected and everything works great, no more annoying shut off at stops, there is a small light on dash regarding the start/stop needs service, I just cut a small circle of electrical tape and put it over the light so I don't have to see it. Now I don't even think...
Well my 2019 JL must be smarter than the '18, I disconnected the sensor on the battery and it did nothing. It seem like it didn't bother anything and the ESS still worked.
So I disconnect the hood switch and YES!! it worked! No more start stop at traffic lights....love it! I can now drive in...
Has anyone tried to disable the switch? On my ATV we disable the seatbelt by splicing the wires together because we installed a harness, wondering will that work on jeep. I hate the ESS......is there a way to keep it off all the time without having to hit the switch??? Hmmm.....
