I have five used stock tires with about 20,000 on 4 tires, one new. All with stock black rims and TPS. Free to good home pickup only on A1A very near Patrick Space Force Base.

Looks like the wires going into the multi-pin connector:
Red/Yellow pin number 44 for positive
Black pin number 43...
Just a heads up, I put a Seicane order in on Jan 20, 2020, still hasn't shipped as of Feb 4, 2020. I expected a delay for Chinese New Year, but I think they will be closed for awhile due to the coronavirus.
I enjoyed your overview and hope you post a review when completed. Also look forward to your ideas on software solutions. I am leaning towards the Chinese HUs for many of the same reasons as you. I like the Android options.
I found that the Braun flashlight from Harbor Freight fits nicely between the Handbrake and console. I put one of those magnetic mini usb plugs on it so I can easily attach the charging cable without picking up the flashlight...
I used acetone, it work OK. Rag must be clean each time you wipe. You will be tempted to splash it on and work on a large area. I recommend working small areas at a time.

I would agree, the only difference I can see comparing the two parts are the attachment points for the bolts. One has a slight depression for cone shaped boltheads and the other has a flat plate for the bolt plates.
I tried the pictured paint thinner with no luck. I had heard varnish thinner would work, but not this one based on mineral spirits.
I then tried acetone with some success, but it evaporates quickly making the job difficult.
Mine is still on back order. Thinking about trying a universal type of lock.
