I have a 2018 2 door Sport with 3000
I have a 2018 2 door Sport with 3000 miles on it and it is a nightmare. I rarely drive it on the hightway and never over 60. I have no faith that FCA will fix the problem due to cost. Not safe to drive..........cost too much.
Thanks for the good wishes and information. You know you listed 18 JKUR in your post not a JL. I hope the JL used values holds up as well as the JK. Just nervous that any more investigations or recalls may impact the used values of the JL. I hope that FCA comes up with a solid solution to...
I recently checked the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL has 824 Complaints with the NTSA 8 recalls and 3 investigations. 97.5% of the complaints concerned the steering and suspension. The 2019 Jeep Wrangler had 114 complaints 2 recalls and 2 investigations by the NTSA. 95.6% of the complaints were on...
I drove my 2018 Sport this morning and as usual it was a chore to keep in in a straight line. I am able to move the steering wheel approximately two inches to the left with no response and two inches to the right with no response. My Sport has four inches of play in the wheel off the center...
Really sorry to hear that the 19 still has wondering steering issues. I have a 2018 Sport been to the dealer three times complaining about the problem. No Fix in sight.. Seems like you have to put aftermarket Track bars and front end part on to actually improve the steering. I filed a...
Thanks for the reply. Glad you got a JL that tracks straight. I have no idea what makes the difference some good some bad. Based on the number of threads and complaints, must be more than a few bad JL's out there. My JL was a June build and had the frame weld recall. Not sure if FCA...
I appreciate the time you took for the response. Your reply seems to be fairly common among the threads. I am also afraid of just wasting time and effort. It seems the only way to actually improve my issue is with aftermarket track bars and front end parts. I still have a way to go on my...
I have a 2018 JL Sport 13 months old with only 3000 miles on it. No one in the family will drive the JL due to the wondering steering. I have had steering issues with the JL since my trip home from the dealership. I have done all the suggested procedures lowered tire pressure, checked torque...
I agree having to constantly move the steering wheel up to four inches to make a minor directional change to keep the vehicle between the lines is most certainly a safety issue and must be addressed. Thanks for the post. Tom
Make sense to me. Do you know what the steering ratio of the new unit is? The one in my 2 door is a 17.4: to 1 way to high and creates the majority of the play in the steering wheel. Thanks Tom
Yes the JL absolutely has steering issues. I just checked the NHTSA site and the 2018 JL has 776 complaints – steering 585, suspension 165 this is 97% of all the complaints concerning the JL. It appears that the various Jeep Wrangler Forums have thousands not hundreds of posting of steering...
Please take a long test ride on some narrow curvy roads to make sure you can live with the loose steering before signing the final papers. Lots of good stuff with the JL but the steering can be unnerving.
I have a 2018 JL 2 door Sport that requires significant and almost constant steering wheel input to remain centered in its lane. I consider this a safety issue. If you have a similar control concern and want a chance at a meaning solution to the steering problem with your Jeep I would...
