Personally, I'm not a fan of most modern wheel designs... wanted to emphasize the simplicity of the Sport with a bit of retro feel. Was torn on black or white D-window steelies, but I think the black works better with the white body and black trim pieces. If I had to do it again, I might go...
Rugged Ridge Arcus with a Comeup 9.5RSI
(ordered the bumper with the protector bar but they've been backordered for weeks... at this point I think I prefer it without)
spent a few hours scouting around NF35 north of Ellensburg... Lion Rock/Table Mountain area... sun, rain, snow, hail, mud, rocks, lost old mushroom hunters needing help changing a flat... good day. I need to spend some more time over this way.
Shakedown on the new bits (Rubi takeoff suspension, 33's on steels, longer control arms, new bumper, Comeup 9.5rsi winch...) Pretty happy all around.
Good sun, brief snowstorm, heavy rain, hail, rocks, mud, some old people looking for mushrooms in the middle of nowhere needing their tire...
A few favorites from last year when the Jeep was still new, lots more plans for this year now that the snow is disappearing and I've got better suspension and tires.
finally tying up my plans to turn the Sport into a sort of retro-early-Renegade... Rubi takeoff struts and springs (thanks, @Unrated !), Pixelhut retro hood stripe, badge delete, added an old Dauntless V6 badge in its place, halogen KC's, Pro Comp D-window steelies, tweed interior... made a last...
following up... added 285 KO2's and some ProComp D-window steelies to further the retro look. They had a bit more backspacing than I was expecting, but I don't hate it. Just waiting on a winch... (would love to add a Warn 8274 for that retro cherry on top, but a little outside the budget at...
Thanks again for those reference pics, @mkunkel20 ... finally got the Pro Comp D-windows mounted up with some 285 KO2s, just using a Rubi takeoff suspension I picked up in the classifieds here, and pretty happy with the overall fit and ride so far.
Could you share pics with those Pro Comp Series 51s installed? Don't have to be terribly artistic. Just very curious, strongly considering these same wheels but have yet to find any pix of them actually mounted on a JL. (Also curious if the stock lugnuts worked or you needed replacements.)...
As much as I try to avoid Amazon... those were the "JeCar" brand inserts from there, in flat black.
I had them in gloss black originally but prefer the flat look, especially with the Sport's fenders and bumper... and the deflector... and the hood stripe...
always loved the really early (~1970) CJ5 Renegades... decided to try to incorporate a bit of that vibe : KC's, the Pixelhut retro hood tape stripes, even found some old "Dauntless V6" badges... 33's and Rubi suspension are coming shortly, though I'm still torn on wheels : I dig the simple...
doing the same... always loved the really early (~1970) CJ5 Renegades...
KC's, hood tape stripes, even the old "Dauntless V6" badges... 33's and Rubi suspension coming shortly, though still torn on wheels. Really dig the JL Sport's stock black steelies, but those Quadratec retro alloys...
I don't need the rock rails, but interested in the suspension bits if you're willing to go piecemeal (and if not, I'm sure I can rehome the rails anyway). Available Thursday and Friday for pickup.
Factor in your travel time to and from, fuel, etc when figuring out your total cost. Also, the old adage of "buy the seller, not the product" often applies... reach out to the possible dealerships, both by email and by phone. Get a read on them... are they interested in selling to you? Do...
