Well, all the build up for my arbitration and I lost!
I dealt with many steering issues for a long time. The biggest ammo against me was waiting for fixes and not hitting the shop every second.
My Jeep has had Looseness, Lock up, Bump Steer/Shuttering, Death Wobble, and I’m still waiting on...
Curt hitch, 80$, you will need to put an extension on the rack to come out past the spare. You can get a rack with a pretty easy pull pin to fold it out when the bike is off, so you can get your gear out.
I Tried without a hitch a couple times, adding the receiver was worth it.
The...
Same spot I am in, I am set for arbitration. You can file to do it online through NCDS. Or look at the white booklet with your owners manual to see what the next steps are in your state.
Looks like the investigation is being taken seriously by NHTSA, they had this PDF uploaded to the investigation....asking FCA for everything to do with Welds/Steering/wobble/lockup.
Not sure how long this stuff takes but I’d hate to be the guy that would have to put that report together...
I just applied to the NCDS process today and the claim was accepted, looks relatively quick 40 day turn around.
Will try to keep y’all posted on how it turns out.
Amen! Mine hasn’t replicated since the 2 times it happened in October....but anything with the steering has me on edge. Trust in this vehicle is gone.
It would be one thing if they said, hey it was because of ——-...but that not what you get.
When I took mine in for service recently for wobble and lock up I got a loaner. An 8 year old Chrysler 200 with over 100k miles. It drove so nice. As I was driving I called back and added loose steering to the list of things to look at.
You do get used to it. And I agree it’s odd to jump into...
We drove and liked the turbo in the Cherokee (wife’s car) but we ended up going with the 6, I didn’t want to pay for premium gas cause I’m kind of a cheapskate. Defiantly had some pep from takeoff. While it’s not related to this at all...no steering play on the Cherokee lol.
You’d think 2 years in they would have a better idea.
We will have it figured out at the next service! That’s 7,000 (+or-)miles away.
I went into this thinking the same thing, new model they will get it worked out soon...That excuse doesn’t really fly at this point.
After many fixes mine is...
Outstanding! Bet they are wishing they would have just done the right thing in the first place, then they could have put an NDA on what’s happened.
Props for staying loyal, this will be completely validated when (hopefully) you get a properly performing JL.
No mention of the LCAs, mine is stock, not sure what they did to adjust the caster. But the email mentions it driving on larger snow/mud tires. I have the non aggressive stock tires..smh. They are bigger than the tires on a civic, but come on.
I can still wobble the wheel back and forth like...
Well, regional tech drove my Wrangler and said it was driving as designed. He did increase the caster in it, which has helped. Still a bit of dead spot, and some wander and I swear the wind grabs this thing much more since my steering box replacement. As long as it doesn’t death wobble or freeze...
With your owners manual there is a separate white booklet dealing with lemon law. The requirements for each state and the address of the manufacturer are in there.
Been researching it myself, good luck.
Supposedly FCA is going to have a tech ride with me in my 18JLUSS. Guess this will be the...
Yeah, I’m not sure what the deal is. NHTSA is looking into it as well, the article I read brings poor welds into the steering investigation. My track bar welds looked ok according to the dealership, but there are other welds in mine that look a bit dicey. Like a misaligned part could be causing...
