Thanks for all the help and ideas!
I do have the LED lighting package with the DRLs. Obviously, I still have a lot of troubleshooting to do. The dealership I use is not too far from me, so I'll probably drive over there and talk to a service advisor and see what they say. It's possible I may...
Yes, the radio power cord is direct to both battery terminals. I understand the importance of grounding, but since this same situation occurs when testing with an HT using a rubber duck antenna, that's not my issue here. It's trying to find and resolve what's generating this darn RFI...
In my 2018 JL, I have a Yaesu FTM-300 installed and when trying to receive transmissions when the vehicle is running this video shows what happens. I have tried the following things and nothing has resolved my issue, nor have I found the source of this interference.
tried different radios...
EDIT: I've ordered a front fender mount and will try relocating the antenna.
Thanks for the reply! My old vehicle was a Toyota Camry with a Larsen dual band NMO mag mount that sat on the middle of the trunk. I never had any issues with receiving local repeaters and the signal meter was always...
Hi all,
I've been having this problem since I installed my Kenwood TM-v71A in my 2018 JLU last year. What's happening is that when I'm listening to a repeater while driving, the signal meter is all over the place (up and down) with significant noise and picket fencing type symptoms. I've been...

by far the best... even has a money back guarantee if you fail. I used if for my Tech and General and scored a 100% on both exams.
I just had my 3rd oil change done and I believe they overfilled it again, even after telling them it was overfilled the last two times and only needs 5 quarts. When I checked the dip stick in the morning (cold engine), the oil was at least an inch up onto the cable, outside the range area. When...
I usually run them around 34, although lately with the cold weather, they've been dropping to 30... It's my first Jeep, so I've never had experience with a solid front axle. I guess it's just the way they are. Regardless, I still love it, thanks for all the replies!
My Jeep has always done it, but seems more prevalent since getting the V41 steering damper recall done. Any chance you had that done recently as well? And yes, mine is installed correctly ;) (not upside down).
Let me start by saying I don't believe I have the loose steering/wandering problem. I can drive on the highway 70+ with one hand or a couple fingers and don't have to fight the steering. I do have a little bit of play (dead spot) in the steering wheel, but nothing I really find concerning. My...
When I checked the SWR for my ham radio install using this mount, it was 1.2 at 144 mhz and 1.8 and 148 mhz. What I found interesting was when the spare tire was off it was 1.2 and 1.5 at the ends. I put the tire back on and the SWR went up to 1.8 again on the high side... hmmm...
Here's my Kenwood TM-V71A installed. The antenna is a dual band Diamond SG-7500 super gainer, using an 3/8 inch NMO mount. I like the mirror install above, but was not an option for me as I have the assist and emergency buttons up there, anyway...
After having my JL for the last year, I'm finally getting around to reinstalling my Kenwood TMV-71A dual band radio back in the vehicle. All I can say is what a pain in the rear it was getting the power cable through the grommet behind the glovebox. It took me numerous tries and I ended up...
Sorry for the delay, been away on vacation. Nope, that's just the part number. There are no directions on the website yet for the 2019 model year. Have to wait until it shows up as an option.
