As a former FJ Cruiser owner, I want to love the 4runner, but it needs an updated powertrain - more hp and an 8 speed transmission, and Apple Carplay before I would consider it.
Would probably rarely if ever use the ACC, but I would get this option solely for the automatic emergency braking. In 5 years, I'm guessing every car will have AEB, so you should be able to get your money back for this option at resale time.
I am going to order a 2019 unless the plug-in hybrid comes out next summer, in which case I may order that instead. The $7500 federal tax credit should offset the higher price.

Do you all think the 3.6L BSG will match the 2.0 Turbo in mpg? If mpg is similar, I am less inclined to spend the extra $1k on the 2.0 for minimal performance benefits and potential reliability concerns.
