Had to get a clutch replaced at approx 30k miles that was not covered under warranty (1st vehicle in 32 years of driving manuals we have ever had to replace a clutch in)
Now we are at approximately 70k miles and have this 2nd gear synco issue along...
Same just happened with ours. No warranty. All out of pocket. Similar miles. If it goes again at 80k we will go with aftermarket. Just couldn’t wait that long to get aftermarket so had to go OEM.
I would also like to know some more on which south bend “kit” and where to buy.
also curious if their clutch kits come with a new flywheel. From what I see they do not. So that adds another expense and part To locate. I can do the work myself, just having trouble finding places that have...
no warranty coverage. Out of pocket if I go that route.
im looking at aftermarket options but also not sure on lead times and supply at the moment. Need it fixed in the next couple weeks.
40k on ours and they are telling us new clutch and flywheel for $2,300
I've owned 7 manual transmission cars/trucks and my wife has owned 4 manual transmission cars.
Never replaced a clutch in any of them. Well over a million miles driven in total with them.
Diagnosis is it needs a new clutch and flywheel at 40k miles. $2,300 installed. No coverage under warranty since clutch is 12mo/12k mile item.
Not sure that is a bill I want to pay potentially every 40k miles. Can't believe it only made it that far.
Now to decide what to do. I like vehicle...
I have the jeep in today for diagnosis of the slipping/grinding issue. Mechanic took a test drive and was very surprised/baffled at the noise in 4th gear acceleration from 50mph. They are taking good care of me. Hoping to have some answers early next week once they have time to dig into it.
Thank you for posting Big Husky. 40k and needs a new clutch seems crazy to me. My wife and I have both driven and owned manual transmission cars and trucks for the past 25 years and hundreds of thousands of miles. I have never had to replace a clutch in any of our vehicles.
toyota 4x4, F150...
Thanks for the reply EMTJEEP. I’ll will get it back in to have them to look at this. Hopefully they will just get it taken care of. Had the clutch recall service just performed last week. No change.
I would also like to know what happened or if others are experiencing this. We have 38k on our 18 JLUR and it does it between 2-3k rpm can get it to do it in 2nd 3rd and 4th. It feels like clutch slipping since the rpms jump up 500-1000k if you really push the Accelerator. But it doesn’t smell...
Ours is in for service currently for a bad driver door latch wiring connection. It was a fault up in the latch not the wiring connection. Noticed the same thing with ESS working great when the doors were off. Put the doors on, ESS failure message and it would not recognize if the door was...
How was your sport out in Moab? We have a almost the identical jeep that we picked up last month in Redwing, MN. Ocean Blue Manual transmission steel wheels. Wasn't considering driving on our trip, but now you have me thinking...
