If something shorted to the extent that the insulation on the wiring began to melt, you would have smelled a really bad burning plastic odor. I had a short not too long ago where my alternator cable came in contact with the exhaust manifold the insulation melted, then shorted on the manifold...
Im willing to bet that you shorted the positive battery cable on the to engine someplace and it blew one of the main fuses on the main array on the PDC. Im not sure of the correct terminal you need to look at, but you can run a continuity test to determine which of these fuse(s) popped when you...
Thanks Jerry ! I did run to the dealer and bought a couple of those fuse arrays and checked the continuity from the alternator lug to the number 2 lug and sure as hell, no connection... replaced the fuse and ran the jeep for 15 minutes and the battery was charging.
thank you for the hand!
OK thank you, I know the terminals are numbered ( if standing on the passenger side reading from right to left) 1 though 7 , 4 being empty... which is "t"
thanks for the reply!
Thanks for the response, that was another question in my mind, how to tell/test if that fuse block ( the one I was referring to by the part number) had failed... Ill have to pull it out and have a look. In the mean time Im going to drop by the local dealership and hope they have one in stock...
About a month ago, driving down a washboard trail, All the warning lights in the jeep went off all at once, and the dreaded message about turning off the engine, the engine will stop shortly popped up on the center screen between the tach and the speedo. I made a U turn and high tailed it back...
i noticed that as well. the dual flex and other iterations of the older flex lights were not that short... In time I am going to add another 16 inches to that harness, its way too short.
Yes you have it correct. Just make sure you select a aux switch that will provide at least 10 amps. I dont have them in my JLUR but I know they are different amperages.
Not sure you would want to run each of the lights(amber and white) both independently from their own switch. but it is possible. Do understand that when you run then as you suggest that the switch that you select to use for the ambers will not power off, or turn off using this method, but...
