2018 Sahara LSD 18,500 miles with some very faint knocking. I changed the diff fluid, check out what was sticking to the magnetic drain plug. I have appointment on Monday so dealership can pull apart. Somethings not right!
DIY all the way. I did mine the other day and I’m a tinkerer at best. Oh, and listen to Brett, I asked him a ton of questions before and during my install and he answered every one of them.
Good luck, you’ll feel great having accomplished it yourself

Not all Sahara’s have the full time AWD, so make sure the one you’re looking at has it if that’s important. Also I think the tow package comes with the upgraded rear axel, so the 18 may not have that. If you can get the 20 sport with all the options you want for less then it seems like that’s...
Thank you all for your responses and advice. I may be getting a little ahead of myself with 37s. I’m going to do the practical thing (I know, boring) and enjoy what I have, drive it and figure out what I need based on use. 37s, regearing, and all that other cool stuff will come some day...
This is good advice. Regarding the regearing, I have a M/T Sahara with aftermarket wheels and 33s which are actually 34s and I have no issues with the added weight. To be honest I hardly ever used 6th with the stock wheels, but have still regularly use 5th with the upgrades. 37s is where you...
Thx Brett, and thank you again for all the advice from afar while I installed the lift. Does a manual transmission offset need to regear or is it the same as an auto? What else is in that rabbit hole?
I’m leaning pretty hard toward 37s. Curious how the typical driving experience will be impacted. I have the 3.6 manual, probably won’t see much of 5th gear any longer, never really saw 6th considering all the hills around here. How about comfort and ride quality?
Thanks for all the replies so far.
Haha! Johnny Bravo! Like I said, I’m a newbie so figuring it out. I don’t need skid plates just yet but wanted a little height, didn’t realize I was going to get 4 out of a 2.5 kit but that’s okay, will make it work.
Daily commute is around town but I took it for a spin on the highway today...
I have dilemma, a good one but still a problem and need some good advice. I have a JLU Sahara with 285/75R17 (33.86”) Nitto Ridge Grapplers (4,500 miles on them). I added them when the suspension was stock and they looked great. That was when I was under the false assumption that I wouldn’t lift...
I’m installing a 2.5 inch Metalcloak in a few days and need to figure out how many inches in bump stops I need upfront and in the rear. What I don’t understand is why I need them. I have 285 75/17s on stock suspension(Sahara JLU) and they don’t rub. I know I need them but can’t figure out why...
I got mine done today. It was pouring rain and dark when I picked it up. You can bet that I was underneath my Jeep getting soaked to make sure it was installed correctly. It was, they did good .
Blows my mind that so many techs are installing it wrong when it actually has arrows and clearly...
