I pulled out that lighter socket when I tapped into it for the 12 volt power for my trailer wiring...I did not pull the panel off...If you look inside the lighter socket you will see two square hole directly opposite each other...I have a special pair of pliers the have two tits sticking out...
There can be problems with LED's not getting warm enough to keep the ice and snow melted off in the winter...some company,s are offering heated LED's to fix the winter problem...

For the compass there is a recalibration setting in the compass menu...You need to select recalibration and YOU also need to drive in circles until it displays calibration complete...

I just discovered that my JL has steering wheel radio controls on the back side of the steering wheel...Maybe your finger tips were activating these hidden buttons???
