Your dealer is clueless. Send him the production timeline - http://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/update-2018-2019-jl-wrangler-timeline-2dr-jl-2-0l-delay-powertop-diesel-job-1-dates-etc.1341/.
The JLU production begins in Nov. So no reason it will arrive March-May of next year. It...
240HP/250-270 lbft zone would make sense. I was always skeptical how they would make the Hurricane the "base" engine in the JL / JLU if it was gonna make the rumored 300 hp / 300 lb-ft. Those figures are higher than what the upgraded Pentastar would even output, especially that torque figure.
Probably means the upside of aftermarket (or MOPAR) ECU tuning will have a lower power ceiling than if engine was closed deck? Will be interesting to see what the factory boost level is.
I've read rumors for both. Rumor for power retracting soft top was something like the Jeep Liberty "SkySlider" roof. And rumored retractable hard top was like the Renegade's "MySky" roof.
So assuming the EcoDiesel gets cleared by the FCA to resume sale, you think there'll be a long term supply issue that might keep it out of the JL/JLU in favor of the JT? Hope that doesn't happen! I want a diesel but I don't want to get the JT just to get it since I don't need a pickup.
But that's as easy to avoid as pushing the ESS off button.
True, if you choose to shut your engine off often on the trail, you'll need to push the ESS off button everytime, but there's devices like the smartstopstart.com OBD II module that can permanently disable it.
I think initially the JT pickup will be harder to obtain than a JL and JLU. Its production will probably be ramped up so we won't see a ton of supply at all dealers. It'll be a first of its kind model so there's pent up demand for it. And dealers will try to capitalized on that with greedy...
Ouch. News regarding this from the past few days:
FCA has received "received various inquiries, subpoenas and requests for information from a number of governmental authorities, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the SEC and several states’ attorneys general. related to the alleged...
Clearly ESS isn't well received by car enthusiasts so why did FCA make it so it can't remember last user mode in the cars that have it so far? There must be some policy, business, or legal reason for it.
I'm guessing like the folding windshield the
I wish they'll give us the best of both worlds somehow and give us removable doors on the JL that will also have hinges and some better side impact protection built in.
As far as what I've seen on forums, malfunctions with ESS isn't very common. Remember what you read online often seems like a bigger problem than it may actually be because people come online to complain about issues, but nobody comes online to post about how their ESS is working properly...
Welcome to the site droptopgal! You found the right place for everything JL. The JL roof sounds like it's shaping up to offer more roof types and more convenient to use than the JK - from removable panel top to a power soft top.
Blurb at the end of a Detroit News article about the 2018 Wrangler JL debut maybe coming at a special event instead of traditional auto show.
