Can the rack be assembled to mount either passenger or driver side?

It was on my 97 sport as well. No clue if it was part of some option package.

I am currently getting a little whistle at the end caps-the RR caps are nice, but still open quite a bit. I tapped up the ends as a test and no more whistle. I didn’t leave the tape on, and will fix a more permanent solution. At least the whistle isn’t coming from the bottom channels...

Ditto here. I mounted mine last week. I’m patient, but have already waited a year for a backbone. Should have done it last spring!

Good question. I wondered the same thing prior to doing mine last week. Easier to drill? Yes, but likely not accurate enough to mount the platform. You could do something silimar to that if you were just mounting some feet and crossbars. The brackets are intentionally highly adjustable...

Called Rhino Rack today. They are now estimating between April to mid-May for the JLU backbone. :/

Do any of you using the Maximus-3 rack have any increase in wind noise with the Pioneer platform so close to the hard top? Been waiting more than a year for Rhino Rack backbone, but still evaluating other options...

I have a Gobi Stealth rack on my FJ Cruiser and love it. But this time around I am going with a flat platform rack.

The width which they support end loads is also a little different between the two. RR is wide, at the edge of the roofline and M-3 narrower, inboard by a few inches. For most folk that wouldn’t make a big difference, but it might for some applications.

If you read through this entire thread, it is in here. I know, 34+ pages, but that is why it is a sticky. Short answer is the difference is the manner of connection through the roof.

Agreed. They are still hoping for April release. I hope so, as in some parts, there is only April and part of May before it is too hot to be out much!!!

I have not yet seen anyone comment on if the Titan tank would fit the JL spare tire mount OK. Worried there may be a slight clearance issue due to the difference in JLUR backspacing?

I installed the door delete front and back - but really thinking neither was really needed. I’ll post a photo tonight.

Just curious if you did your install with the door delete kits?
