Congrats! Maybe we'll run past each other in Charlotte. I still don't think I've seen another SG besides mine, but when it's cloudy or raining it's not always entirely clear whether the color is SG or Granite. (Oh, your garbage can lid is up. May want to put that down before it rains....)
Welcome! My son will be a freshman at UT this Fall, so wanted to say hello.
I've also been wondering about the need to put the bolts in. I was afraid that if you didn't, the pins could get torqued, but suspect that would take a lot of force that you wouldn't ever experience in normal driving...
How long does it take to install/remove the sunshade? I park in a garage at work and at home, so I'm not so worried about the UV exposure on the fabric and dash. About 80% of the time with the top down, I'm glad to have nothing overhead, but on longer roadtrips (like driving to the mountains...
Here's a link to my post earlier in this thread that has pictures of my Sport S with upgraded wheels and tires.

Kinda surprised you didn't respond to my post immediately above yours with "you don't need to run with the soft top up and the side and rear windows off if you have an Alien Sunshade..." Ha!
This is such a stupid question, but is the soft top sufficiently stable to run at high speeds with the top up, but with the side and rear windows out? Prior to this JL, I had a JK, and the corner down-pieces stayed on as anchors when the top was up and the side and rear windows out. But this...
Actually, yes. I had a JK before the JL and I'm accustomed to driving with just the tethers, so it's not such a big deal. I really haven't tried very hard to get them out, actually. Doors are off at the moment anyway. But since I ran into the problem, and not really seeing a great solution...
Nice! I got the Toyo A/T tires (I have a Sport S and didn't want a lift, so mine are smaller than y'all's -- 285/70R17 tires on 17x9 Fuel Boost tires), and while I can't speak for the M/Ts, I don't notice much difference at high speeds between the Toyo A/Ts and the stock wheels that came with...
Okay, I ran into this problem this weekend as well. I saw a YouTube where a guy said he threaded a shoelace through the eyehole of the door-check (where the bolt goes) and created leverage to pull. That seems like a PITA to me.
I'm not really following your solution, dwood. Did you actually...
Got my updated wheels (Fuel Boost 17x9) and tires (Toyo A/T II 285/70R17) -- basically a standard Rubi configuration, I think -- installed on the Sport S today. No lift required (my wife is very short!). Still waiting on the LED headlight kit to arrive at the dealer for installation. Put a...
Think I'm getting this setup on my Sport S (the wheels in this pic are 18s, and I'm doing 17s, and the tires are M/Ts and I'm getting A/Ts, but this is the gist):
Getting Fuel Boost 17x9 and a Toyo A/T II tires (285/70/R17) installed on my SG Sport S (no lift) next week. Similar to this, but this is the Toyo M/T, and I'm getting the A/T.
I'm in the midst of upgrading my JL Sport S with different 17x9 wheels and probably 285/70/17R tires. What did you get, and where'd you have it done? I basically know what I want, I'm just trying to price shop some at the moment. Thanks!
(I got the Ronin factory bullet antenna.)
Thirty-One, I assume I’m getting the entire kit. I already have the tail-lights because I got the safety sensor package, which makes you have the LED tail lights. So really that’s just the headlights and the fog lights, right? I paid for them as part of my purchase price but they’re not in yet.
I'm getting the LED lighting installed on it (can't order from factory for Sport S, but the dealer can install it -- when they get it in!). And I'm going to flip out the wheels and tires soon.
