  1. Re-gear opinions 2020 JL Wrangler Pentastar 6spd manual

Probably last post here, but relevant. Just swapped my oil with full-synthetic Valvoline, and my mileage went up by another 1 mpg. This is about the second oil change I've done since doing my own maintenance, so finally got all the crap out from the dealership. (Their "synthetic" is no way...
  2. Re-gear opinions 2020 JL Wrangler Pentastar 6spd manual

Since posting last year, I get about 17.5mpg average per tank w/ 4.88 and 315/70r17's (34.4" diameter). 18.5mpg cruising at 65 on flat highways, then mpg goes down above 65, but still getting 17mpg or so at 80 I believe. City is around 16-17mpg or something. I started paying for 87 octane, which...
  3. What is the physical limitation of the JL's ability to tow?

In a nutshell, is the JL's towing limited by the brakes, or the gearing, or something else? To elaborate, I keep eyeing the 2-door JL's towing capacity of 2,000 lbs across all trims. However, if you compare the 2017 JK, towing capacity varied based on the gear ratio, from 2,000 to 3,500. Other...
  4. Re-gear opinions 2020 JL Wrangler Pentastar 6spd manual

My two cents, have the 3.6L Sport S manual mated to a 4.88 and 35s. Perfect match. 4.56 would be too tall yet, and while 5.13 would be nice you'd be revving your engine on 80 mph highways. I'd recommend 5.13 on 37s. Regearing and tires was the best money spent, by far.
  5. Hissing Sound From Engine When Accelerating Above 3k RPM?

Said I'd post after things were figured out, but unfortunately it's an anticlimactic ending. Got the Jeep down to acceptable oil levels, and let it sit for a bit while I was out of town. Came back and the noise was gone. Hasn't come back yet. Took it to two mechanics before this, but the Jeep...
  6. PSA: Duratrac 315-70R17 new on Amazon for $190 (compared to $314)

Amazon must have overstocked or something, the prices on the Duratrac 315-70R17 has fluctuated frequently lately, and is now at about an all-time low of $190 per tire. I just had 5 delivered, and they look brand new and in great shape to me. Hard to beat this price...
  7. Giveaway of the Month - May 2019 - JL Wrangler True Dual Rate Lift Kit, Rocksport Edition

Got a pair of Duratrac 35s delivered today, just waiting on figuring out which lift to go with. Also waiting on the MetalCloak 2dr skid plate system...
  8. Manual or Automatic for Offroading

Personally prefer manual all the way. It's only more difficult off road if you aren't skilled with the clutch. Take the time to learn and you'll have more control in most situations and, in my opinion, it is much safer. Automatics just feel like they drive themselves, which isn't fun, and I feel...
  9. Hissing Sound From Engine When Accelerating Above 3k RPM?

Woke up this morning to what I can only describe as a relatively quiet hissing sound coming from the engine when accelerating over 3,000 RPM or so. Seems to be coming more from the left side, but that could just be because of me sitting inside the vehicle. Most prominent in second gear, but can...
  10. Need Opinion. I ordered and negotiated on a price of a fully loaded JLUR and it was missing an item

Depending on what you signed, you either have a binding contract with the dealership, which they partially breached, and thus they can either cure or owe you damages. Or, you have no binding contract and your option is not to buy the vehicle. If the latter, for a fully loaded Rubicon I agree...
