With out a doubt there is an EQ change with the top off. The Jk had several threads on how to set up a jumper to correct the issue.....I haven't seen anything for the JL yet...still searching.

There is one small screw behind the passenger seat next to the sub enclosure. The rest is pull apart. Separate the surround for the seat belt, I also removed the access plug for the rear tail light. The strip of tie downs needs to be removed also. Gently pry the enclosure away from the side...
