Sadly, the app disallows rooted phones. In the end it doesn't really matter I guess, as I have the 6-speed, so no auto start for me anyway

I already whack my knee against the OEM t-case shifter. In this position it seems like it would be even more obtrusive. It looks like you could install it in any orientation so long as it didn't interfere with the tranny shifter. I think it would be better oriented in the five O'clock position...
