  1. Rubicon Hood Vent Flew Off!

I've said it before, mass produced anything is susceptible to quality issues. It's why some of my coworkers and me have jobs in the automotive industry in quality. The part appears to be a high density polyethylene, but that's only a guess (I work with gears and differentials so plastics is not...
  2. Rubicon Hood Vent Flew Off!

  3. Rubicon Hood Vent Flew Off!

Yeah, that! The wife, "whoa! did it just come from your Jeep?" I pull over, back up, and find the sad remains of the passenger side hood vent perched atop the grass. Apparently, these decorative hood vents are two-pieces initially, then fused together by the supplier (US Farathane who...
  4. In praise (or not) of ESS? **NO POLITICS**

No coincidence that fuel efficient signs resemble a dong.
  5. How do you remove the gap hider on a JL Rubicon

    Yep, stealing this quote. Hilarious.
  6. ESS Completely Stopped - And I'm Not Complaining!

Wanted to provide an update. I took my Jeep to the dealer for this issue, and a few small other things (rear-view camera random green lines in the extreme cold, and creaking noises from the hard-top) last week. According to the dealer, BOTH batteries were bad and needed to be replaced. I asked...
  7. JL and the wind...

After 1 TJ, 3 JKU's and now this JLU I don't feel that one was any better/worse than the other. They all "blow" when the wind is anything more than a gust from a mouse farting!
  8. Big or Tall JL seat bracket needed

6'5" here and no problem with headroom (long-ass-legs, but torso is "normal"). I did notice that the top of the cluster disappears from my view in the JL over my JK. I have to lean down to see the top right/left of the cluster. No big deal. I had BigBoyBrackets in my XJ years ago and they were...
  9. What is the top speed?

Damn I miss my Mustang! Love my JL, but banging gears down a twisty road with 8-pistons screaming on a sunny day was just car-porn.
  10. ESS Completely Stopped - And I'm Not Complaining!

Thanks all for the advice. Even though it's nice not having the ESS work, I agree there is some sort of problem so I will take it in for service.
  11. ESS Completely Stopped - And I'm Not Complaining!

Yep - looked for that already. I thought there must be some message telling me the ESS is disabled for some reason. Didn't see any messages at all. I think that the Jeep gods heard me complaining about the ESS one day and smiled upon me.
  12. ESS Completely Stopped - And I'm Not Complaining!

Weird. I have not had any charging issues that I can tell. Everything literally works as good as it did the day we bought it. I park in a warm garage each night so there are never any hardcore thermal loads put on it that could cause the battery to become weak. Must be some some drain on it...
  13. ESS Completely Stopped - And I'm Not Complaining!

Lucky me. It's like I won the lottery. My auto start/stop just randomly quit working two weeks ago. It no longer shuts off when I roll up to stop, the switch no longer illuminates, nothing at all. And the Jeep still operates perfectly, no detectable issues, no check engine light or anything. At...
  14. GRANITE CRYSTAL METALLIC Wrangler JL Club

    Rare clean in mid-winter picture
  15. Cracked Windshield Club

Yes, SO much, yes!! Wranglers have had glass issues for years. My 1999 TJ, all my JK's (3), and - my JL, have all had glass replacements. The problem is, there is no right answer. FCA could have better glass as a standard feature, but that would cost more. You or I may be willing to pay extra...
  16. BUYER BEWARE: FCA Will Lie To Win

Is it possible that the dealer and FCA had some miscommunication on the start date of your issue? Not trying to make light of your situation - I'm sure it's very frustrating. But being a 25 year veteran of the automotive industry here in the Metro-Detroit area, and having spent most of that...
  17. Reluctant newbie trading JK for JL

I traded a 2016 JKU in last March for a 2018 JLU Rubicon. Zero regrets. The Rubicon has been darn near perfect. Small electrical anomaly here and there, but no more or less than any vehicle with a crap-ton of electrical toys on-board. Overall most things were improved over the JK.
