The Wrangler was never a comparatively safe vehicle. Ever.
Some folks reject objective, fact-based, organized tests that repeatedly produce this result. They insist that there’s some nefarious conspiracy afoot to make Wranglers look bad.
Nope.
Others are setting aside the Euro results...
Remember: it’s not a “roll cage,” it’s a “sports cage”. Those are sports bars, not roll bars, that succumbed to the tree. Sports bars are intended for attaching aftermarket add-ons, not to protect passengers.
Don’t yammer on about glowing reviews you claim to have seen. Link to them.
Here’s what IIHS found when testing midsize SUVs. GMC Acadia does well; Ford and Jeep are at the bottom of the barrel...
I dislike Bikini as much as I liked Mojito, and I liked Mojito a lot! Terrible decision.
Nice to see the safety features get beefed up. Seems there won't be a 2018 JL crash tested at IIHS. I'll hope to see how a 2019 does.

Anarchylogic did a much better job at being offensive. But I'm pretty sure that was the intent.
Nice to see the second spectral color emerging. Still waiting for the orange, orange-yellow, yellow, and green to join the Jeep rainbow. Violet? Maybe someday...
So the V6 models use two batteries. What happens if you disconnect the small battery? What if you disconnect the big battery? The results are ... non-intuitive.
I'll take IIHS's n = 1 over n = "some dude on the Internet said". YMMV. Who's gonna watch the '95-'99 Dodge Neon test and tell us, "Good enough for my son/daughter!"
