303 Aerospace our Automotive Protectant is my go to for any plastic parts; interior and exterior.
Check the cosmetic protection sub-forum on this site under the various prevent black fenders from fading posts for more details and testimonials for 303.
I’m not a plastics engineer but I’m pretty sure there isn’t a plastic out there that doesn’t fade with UV rays. Look at any Chevy Avalanche from the early 2000’s and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Similar to your skin, plastics, leather, paint, pretty much everything that sits outdoors...
This guy right here and the Torx bit that came in the toolkit was all I needed. You can normally get the drill and impact driver as a combo for less money than the impact alone...
My recommendation is to use a cordless impact driver with the torx bit from the toolkit. Takes me 1-2 minutes to have all 8 screws out/back in with no manual labor involved. I can't think of a reason to go with a knobed screw unless you plan to take the top on/off away from home quite often...
@Smarrtazz, I feel sorry for you and all the others that are stuck in Marion, or elsewhere. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to how they are shipping the vehicles out of the lots. It definitely not first come first serve and doesn't appear to be last in, first out. Good luck...
I’ve read a couple of other forum post stating that this is not a good idea. Heating the plastic draws the oils within the material to the surface, temporarily restoring the color but permanently reducing flexibility. The result is a fender that may look good for a while but is more brittle...
I would recommend pricing a local dealer. After I registered my Jeepmon Mopar’s website I was able to print coupons for 15% and 10% off accessories from the offers section. Hard to beat 15% off and no shipping cost when I drive by the place every day.
The Meguiars Quick Detail spray and a microfiber towel will work for those areas, just keep the area real wet with the spray for the first wipe and keep flipping the towel. Use a clean towel after the grit is gone to wipe down the area and get rid of any streaks. I would not do this if there...
Get ready to empty your bank account on stuff if you are starting from scratch!
Here is my recommendation on products:
(2) 5-gal buckets, one for soapy water solution, the other to rinse your mitt with
Wash mitt -...
Ha ha. No problems at all! The mfgs claim it is hydrophobic and is low in static so dry dirt and pollen won’t stick either.
It is not as easy to apply as wax and recommend you check out some videos of how to put it on before taking the plunge. You basic process is to wash (stripping the...
It’s a replacement for wax that’s supposed to be longer lasting, 3+ years, more resistant to scratches, and easier to keep clean. I bought the Gtechniq CSL and EXO kit from Autogeek. It’s not cheap, but if it protects the paint better and saves me from waxing every 3 months it’s worth it...
I love it, rides a lot better than the YJs I owned way back in college! :) LED headlights are definitely bright. I can see other drivers being annoyed. Really nothing bad to say, it’s one nice ride!
Now to give it a proper wash and put the ceramic coating on. See if the shine is any better!
Mine arrived without the soft top in the back. Per my dealer, Jeep is going to ship them to the dealer with our VIN on The box, expected to be in 5+ weeks.
For those in Marion, OH, it looks like Jeep may be trucking quite a few of the Jeeps with no tracking information. My dealer emailed me last night and said my Jeep arrived while Jeep chat and MOTS show no movement. Heading to pick it up this morning!
