Here is my belated update, this is after a trip to the Rubicon, Holy Cross in CO, Two trips to Rausch Creek and one trip to AOAA. My brackets are holding up well, they have prevented major damage to the body, there is only light scratching. The bumper has been hit hard enough to take damage...
This is my first Jeep, bought in July 2019. With the temp tags still on I hit my first trail. We hit several trails in Colorado that summer. After moving to Virginia, I’ve been fairly active with a local club, nova jeepers. I still consider myself a novice, but I’ve learned a bunch since joining...
One of the staff members at rubicon springs took care of the snake. I think the issue is the snake chose an outhouse as a home which is a very dangerous situation. We had small children using that same outhouse earlier that morning, which could have resulted in life threatening injuries.
The...
Who wore it better?
Blue is running a 2” synergy lift, white has a 3.5” metal cloak. It was very evident on the trail that his extra 1.5” of lift and stiffer springs kept his belly and sliders from hitting/scraping as often as I did. His stiffer spring rate also helped avoid some of the hard...
PSA: There are rattlesnakes on the trail. My wife had a close encounter with one inside a rubicon springs porta-potty. We are quite fortunate she didn’t get bit. She quickly jumped out of the way. The same porta-potty had been used by several kids earlier that morning.
So keep your eyes peeled!
@lashlee,
Credit goes to @Brian0128 for being the first to ask rock hard for the clean flat step without traction plate.
I emailed RH to confirm they would do it, however the price premium of ordering direct vs Northridge4x4 was holding me back. So I ended up calling Northridge to see if they...
The flat step has all the same strength as the angle up/down slider, but with an extra metal plate welded on for step purposes. By default they rivet on a silver or black traction plate. I ordered them without the traction plate, and instead added a 4" wide strip of grip tape. Clean, strong, and...
I recently received my flat step sliders from rock hard. So yesterday I went about installing them. Having previously removed and cleaned out the front two body bolts, the whole install was fairly painless. I was surprised how much wobble the rear four bolts have during removal compared to the...
A pickle fork worked for me. This joint was by far the most difficult of the four involved in my tie rod/drag link install. I hammered the pickle fork on as far as I could, then hit downward on the arm of the fork. I was pretty sure I was destroying the boot, so I knew I had to get it separated...
I am pretty sure the end links are the same part number for sport/willys/sahara/rubicons. As far as I know the only time Jeep went with a longer link was for the Xtreme Recon which has a small lift over a rubicon.
Oh I know, I didn't say the dealer was good at their job. They gave me a several hundred dollar window instead of the $2 plastic guide. Luckily they eventually figured it out. Here ya go!
I had one replaced under warranty. First they ordered a whole new window, then they figured out how to order just the white guide. I'll upload a picture of the part number when I find it.
Added pics here and below for anyone looking later
I had two left over from my Artec skid install. I didn't pay for any hardware. If you want spacers and bolts, you'll probably end up with the $309 package. Or you can buy 20 washers at home depot.
Make sure you talk to Jon.
I just told him I wanted to order replacement brackets the steel bumper. Specially I wanted the two brackets on each side that are inside the bumper. He likely knew what I was doing, but didn't seem to care. He just looked up the parts and placed the order. I was...
