  1. Topless with doors off, concerns.

I left my doors unlocked and still had someone slash my window to get in. My TJ was generally top down as much as possible. I can't recall ever having bird poop anywhere on it. Just leave nothing of value in there, and get a good locking Tuffy security console or similar as soon as...
  2. The JL got two batteries. Does it make sense?

Speaking as a Mech. Eng ;), you'd be surprised at how often factory dual battery setups are not isolated. This may not be the case here, but bean counters are always involved and two dead batteries is one more battery that the dealer can sell you. Hopefully, they did it right but i'm doubtful...
  3. The JL got two batteries. Does it make sense?

That's how dual batteries are generally set up. If you wire them in parallel you get twice the reserve capacity at the same voltage. If you wire them up in series you get twice the voltage and fry all of your electronics. Nicer aftermarket setups will sometimes include an isolator so that one...
  4. Tall guy + hard top = one bump you are dead

Just drive like this! Also, your avatar is a Toyota, not a Jeep. :P
  5. Dynatrac/Dirt Every Day build.

It's legal in free states. AKA not VA. ;)
  6. Let's talk axles.

Agreed. I think if it's truly tougher and they ditched the C-Clip axles, then it'll be a reasonable enough axle for most.
  7. Let's talk axles.

Not true, Magnuson Moss act protects the consumer. If your axle swap directly damaged a component and that could be proven by the dealer, then yeah they won't cover it. Otherwise they're required to cover.
  8. Metallurgy

I'm welding on a CJ all this week, I'd still rather have steel. ;) Sure, you have the potential for rust, but they're easier and cheaper to repair, and much tougher. I've seen too many instances of minor damage turning into major damage on the aluminum body panels of the F150s. Saw pictures of...
  9. Diesel manual transmission / JL

Corvettes don't come in 4 wheel drive. ;)
  10. Metallurgy

The downside to aluminum is it doesn't possess the same strength as steel in sheet goods. I'm somewhat nervous about the durability of the JL/JT doors...when removed are we going to have to handle them with kid gloves? There were already JL prototypes spotted with dented doors. A sacrifice must...
  11. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Optional & Standard Features Availability Per Trim (Sport, Sahara, Rubicon)

Actually it's not a technicality based on your argument. Your argument was that every Jeep had painted flares before the JK, when that isn't true. They had painted steel fenders, which were part of the body, and then certain premium packages (Sahara or Renegade on the YJ, Sahara on the TJ) came...
  12. Highline fenders vs standard fenders

But people might make fun of my uneven flares at the mall :crying:
  13. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Optional & Standard Features Availability Per Trim (Sport, Sahara, Rubicon)

The metal bits are fenders. Not flares. Black plastic flares attached to the fenders on the CJ, YJ and TJ. JK introduced the hybrid "flender," as it was jokingly called at the time.
  14. JLWF's Live Coverage of JL Wrangler Reveal: Photos, Videos, Info and Q&A

The red accents on the interior are an optional package I believe.
  15. JL picture thread

And the Hummer(HMMWV) is a Jeep. Originally, at least. ;)
  16. JL picture thread

I never did. They don't even check! Still got slashed.
  17. JL picture thread

Zippers get old and crappy, velcro wears out eventually. The less those items are required the better I'd think. Doesn't really matter because someone will just slash your soft top windows anyways to steal your loose change even though it takes 2 seconds to remove the windows. :(
  18. What engine do you plan on getting?

I remember people talking crap about the TJ because it had cup holders. :cwl:
  19. What engine do you plan on getting?

I swear JK owner heavy forums are the only ones I ever see people claim the 4.0L was a terrible engine. It's generally regarded by most to be one of the best engines Jeep ever produced or put into anything. It didn't make any horsepower, but it did make all of it's power at lower RPMs where you...
  20. First in-action photos + videos of 2018 Wrangler JL and JLU getting wet and dirty in New Zealand!

In that case, dear FCA: Diesel. Manual. Rubicon. Scrambler. Please make all of these things available in one vehicle. kthx <3
