Interesting, hadn't thought of that reason for the difference in front and rear track width. The JK has matching front and rear 61.9" track width so I guess Jeep didn't feel it was long enough that it needed help with turning radius.
+1 me like! Those LED rings are gonna look very distinctive and you're gonna know you're looking at a JL/JLU/JT model right away. I was hoping they wouldn't just get lazy and toss the 2017 JK LED headlights on the car and I'm glad to see they've made it different and very unique.
That article was written just a few months after the aluminum F-150 started being made though so there may not have been enough time for accidents to pile up and for insurance rates to change to reflect that.
Very innovative idea actually! Would actually fit with the Wrangler's keep-it-simple-stupid mentality in allowing for even easier door removal. I really hope we get some interesting new smart features in the JL and not just a slight external redesign.
Nice, so the speculation that those were LEDs on the prototypes was correct. The Renegade also got a nice interior/tech update, so the JL is shaping up to feature some nice new technology inside and outside I think.
Seems like it to me.
I think an angled C pillar could look good and give a the JL Wrangler a nice fastback shape. It'd also fit nicely with the new more raked windshield.
Even a hardtop to maintain the same lines could look cool. Something along these lines...
Agreed. With MPG requirements getting even more stringent it makes no sense to introduce a V8 when here's a turbo diesel coming. Better torque and gas mileage than V8. Only downside is lower redline and won't sound as good. Two things Jeep owners won't care about much compared to torque and MPG
I'm not familiar with current diesel emissions standards, but maybe it's requires going forward to comply with EPA since DEF helps break down a Diesel engine's harmful nitrogen oxide emissions into harmless nitrogen and water.
Didn't the new 8 speed auto need an elongated hood or something to fit it? This is just the current JK body, so that means the 8 speed doesnt need a longer hood?
Possible. That box can have the reverse gear either to the left of 1st gear or right of the 6th gear. Must be a good unit if it's being used in the Mustang GT350R.
See a lower roofline on a single cab looks decent with a bed. The wrangler's high upright cab looks awkward when it's single cab with a bed attached, like the one posted in the other thread.
Removable top for the wrangler pickup would be a nice feature to differentiate it from the F150 and...
