On my TJ I had Bestop door uppers that had sliding glass windows. I've not seen any available for the JK, so I doubt there will be any for the JL. I hated the plastic zippered windows.
On my 2011 JKU I was able to disconnect the return spring through the slot. The headrests still lock upright if you push them up after laying the seat forward to unlatch the headrest. I have no idea if the JLU is the same setup.
