  1. Any speculation on horsepower / torque numers for the Updated 3.6?

I'm skeptical. It's same basic size, even longer hood, now has a true cage attached to the frame, more gadgets built into it, lots more safety equipment and larger wheels/tires so the weight loss would have to come out of the existing body. Unless they use a LOT of aluminum which would drive up...
  2. Any word about half doors being offered on JL?

I forgot where i read this but there were some hints by FCA that the half doors from the Switchback concept will be offered on the JL.
  3. Manual vs Automatic- What will you be ordering?

Same here, I like to have a more relaxed experience when off roading so I can fully enjoy it. Especially in terrain where you need a lot of precision and slow crawling, it is more difficult and can get very tiring. It's a good challenge but I eventually switched to an auto. It's also a daily for...
  4. First Look: Production Interior of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL/JLU!

That red dashboard looks almost like leather it's so smooth. Like you said it will show a lot more dirt, dust, and wear & tear. Any interior that is more refined/ polished is not going to hold up as well.Softer plastics and leather bend and crack more easily and don't hold up as well to water or...
  5. First Look: Production Interior of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL/JLU!

Wow... it's nice. Almost too nice to get dirty. The JK interior may not be fancy bells and whistles but it is easy to clean and doesn't make you want to treat it with kid gloves either. I'd really like to see a base interior. Dont get me wrong I don't dislike it but how will this hold up on the...
  6. Is the JL Wrangler going to be sufficient in a crash?

2 things, or 3 maybe. Most JL's just like the JK's will be lifted with some aftermarket rock rails. The higher off the ground will make for safer impact point if you get T boned so that cars are going mostly under you as opposed to through you. Increased risk of flipping over but also less fear...
  7. Verified: 2018 Wrangler JL/JLU Will Get 3 Screen Sizes

Does it look dramatically different than the JK or just relocated vents and larger center stack?
  8. Verified: 2018 Wrangler JL/JLU Will Get 3 Screen Sizes

My wife drives a Mini, trust me those crappy little bullseye style vents are way worse lol. At least ours have one long surface to grab onto. The round vents are good for when the top is off at night and you can blast heat in any direction. By far the most versatile vents I've ever used. They...
  9. Renderings: New Jeep Wrangler JLU Brought to Life

Sorry but that makes no sense. The hinges are what keep the doors on and there's still two of them per door. I'm not sure I'd want to drive around with some "quick release" button or handle mechanism that unlatches your doors in an instant. Imagine if it malfunctions or is inadvertently engaged...
  10. JLU interior security options?

The man said rifles so there's only one place for that. OP -you can forget Jeep offering any large lockable storage with enough space to fit a rifle so your only option will be the aftermarket. There's many options for the JK, even more for the JKU. The JLU may have even more trunk space so I'm...
  11. Renderings: New Jeep Wrangler JLU Brought to Life

What do you mean by one piece removal per side?
  12. JLU soft top spied!

It's a decent design if there has to be a full frame, but you can see from that image just how much more restrictive it is over the sports bar. It goes from a Jeep to a SUV with that minor change. The two pillars that form the rear window would just kill it for me if it were a permanent fixture.
  13. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Sahara (JLU) Roof Exposed!

Same old long metal antenna :( Was hoping to get a stubby flexible rubber antenna that is more durable for the trail and doesn't hit everything from the garage door to trees.
  14. Should I wait for 2018 Wrangler?

I have to ask and with all due respect, I assume most of those 15 Jeeps in the past couple of years were not Wranglers so why not use those as your highway commuter instead of the JL? The JL is probably not going to drive much different than the JK on the highway which is to say not very good at...
  15. Safety features

One of the things I love most about mine is that it lacks all the tech/safety bloat. The Cherokee/JGC crowd is different and FCA has to keep it competitive in safety and fancy features with comparable commuter SUVs. I would argue the Wrangler sells well not just in spite of this but because it...
