  1. Largest Tire on JLU Sahara - Stock Rims & no lift

No problem, offer is always open if you decide. In his post seller said he has another set with worn tires for even less, could get them for $200-300 possibly. These are always around so lmk. $1600 is more than people are asking for Rubicon and Gladiator Rubicon wheels and KO2s, brand new take...
  2. Largest Tire on JLU Sahara - Stock Rims & no lift

Dang Sport and Sahara wheels are dirt cheap around here. It might be cheaper for me to buy a set and ship them to you then for you to buy locally...this is from a local CL search: Almost new tires (9/32", new is 10/32", seller wants $350 for everything. Several other examples.
  3. Largest Tire on JLU Sahara - Stock Rims & no lift

KO2s installed yesterday, 275/70/18 on stock wheels. Rubicon shocks and springs but no other lift. I think it looks perfect, not too "Brodozer".
  4. Anyone have pics of Gladiator Rubi wheels on a Wrangler?

Thanks for the pic, looks great!
  5. Anyone have pics of Gladiator Rubi wheels on a Wrangler?

In the local CL people are charging a premium for the Gladiator wheels. Most are posted at $1300 for a set with tires or higher. Most of the Rubicon wheel/tire sets are between $1000 and $1200, which includes all five. Thanks for the help, we will definitely keep these as an option.
  6. Anyone have pics of Gladiator Rubi wheels on a Wrangler?

Yeah I was wondering about what to do with the spare tire/wheel, since the Gladiator probably just has a steel wheel for the spare...
  7. Anyone have pics of Gladiator Rubi wheels on a Wrangler?

My son and I both like the dark grey wheels on the Rubicon Gladiators. They are the 5-spoke gray wheels, with the polished lip. Anyone have pics of these wheels on a Sport or Sahara? Did a search in this section but didn't see anything. Thanks in advance for any help!
  8. Jeep Wrangler Achieves Record Sales in Q4 2019

What I can't believe is that an Avenger was sold in 2019. The last model year was...2014. Someone walked into a dealership and said, "Hey, look at THAT, I've gotta have it!" Too bad it was such a POS, it's got a cool name.
  9. Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be name of PHEV Hybrid Electric model. Coming late 2020

You said it yourself, we can't begin to get an idea, so why are we arguing about the pros/cons now? I think we should see and wait what FCA has to reveal at CES, it's pointless to debate at this point. I can't imagine FCA will reveal the Wrangler 4xe with the tagline, "It's more expensive and...
  10. Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be name of PHEV Hybrid Electric model. Coming late 2020

I think charging costs really depend on individual situations. We put solar on our home 3 years ago. Initially it had a 7-year payoff period but with rising electricity rates in CA it's down to 4.5, so we are 1.5 years away from "free electricity". Last year, even with charging our Volt...
  11. Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be name of PHEV Hybrid Electric model. Coming late 2020

Your arguments make a lot of sense from a physics standpoint. Obviously (or maybe not) Jeep's engineers must have asked the same questions and faced the same issues, and come up with a solution that offers some benefit beyond what is already available; if not superior, why bother with the...
  12. Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be name of PHEV Hybrid Electric model. Coming late 2020

That's why I stated "While obviously lighter and smaller...". I agree the Wrangler would need a larger ICE to charge the battery system. But nothing like a 3.0L V6 or Hemi.
  13. Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be name of PHEV Hybrid Electric model. Coming late 2020

You don't need a full-sized ICE. While obviously lighter and smaller, the Volt (1.5L 4) and the BMW i3 (0.65L 2-cylinder from a scooter) use small displacement engines to generate power for the electric motor. The 1.5L in the Volt gives it a total range of 420 miles (8.9 gallon fuel tank) and an...
  14. Best roof hoist 18-19 JLU

We went with the Lange Hoist-A-Top Simple, it was cheap and easy to install. Stock has the winch on the back wall of the garage, but we didn't have room there so a quick call and they sent us a different version that could mount on the side wall instead. I tried to upload a pic of it installed...
  15. Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be name of PHEV Hybrid Electric model. Coming late 2020

Just got a used Volt for my wife's commute. Couple of features it has that might port well to a PHEV Wrangler: 1) You do not need to brake to activate the battery regen. It has a normal drive mode (coast when you let off the accelerator), and an "L" mode that kicks in the regen immediately and...
  16. Tesla Cybertruck debuts tonight. Anyone been following?

On the topic of MPGs... Picked up a '17 Chevy Volt two weeks ago. Drove it from south OC CA to Paso Robles and back last weekend. 510 miles round trip. Would have used 30 gallons of premium in our '11 Pathfinder, but round trip in the Volt consumed 11.1 gallons. Saved about $80 in that trip...
  17. Tesla Cybertruck debuts tonight. Anyone been following?

Yes, that is definitely a concern. The technology and efficiency will improve over time, much like that of the ICE. For example, modern ICEs produce 1% of the air pollution of U.S. engines from the 1960s. Improvements have been gradual but steady. I'm hoping that the same will be true of BEVs...
  18. Tesla Cybertruck debuts tonight. Anyone been following?

Depends on the region you live in. Top states for "green" car registrations, (March '18), all but four of the top 11 in the west, where coal power plants are rare: 11. Colorado 10. Arizona 7. Utah 4. Hawaii 3. Oregon 2. Washington 1. California Even with coal, an EV is still competitive with...
  19. Tesla Cybertruck debuts tonight. Anyone been following?

A few things: 1) I read up on the windows shattering. Couple of hypotheses floating around. One was that they had done the same thing before the reveal, which had created microfractures in the glass. Apparently it had worked earlier but not during the event. To be safe they should have replaced...
  20. Rough draft: Cost analysis of Diesel Wrangler

One kid in college, one a junior in high school. My wife wants to settle close to where they live so she can be a grandma. Sorry if that means something to us. That, and we're stuck here for at least 10 more years until we (both public school employees) can retire.
