  1. Coast 2 Coast 5,147 mile JLUR Trip

I agree with @Suffolklou I use a lot of Gaia when planning and navigating. The best part is you can share your plots or plans amongst friends. I have also used trailsoffroad.com for brainstorming when trip planning.
  2. Lippincott Road veterans - would appreciate some advice

I went and took Lippincott route back in March. Obviously conditions have probably changed by then. There was a rock on the road that fell down the hill side and the Jeep was too wide to go around it and had to climb it. Nothing big, just had to make sure the wheels were going over it not to get...
  3. Show Off Your Scenic Jeep Photos

Way late to the party. Gorgeous pics everyone!
  4. Benefit of shock upgrade w/out lift springs?

To be honest, You will be surprised what a stock Rubi can handle. I think it's an adjustment to the rattles and such. I would have just aired down some to soften the ride if you didn't do that. In those old pictures, I was still on the factory shocks then, and didn't have a problem. But then...
  5. Benefit of shock upgrade w/out lift springs?

Im running a set of aftermarket shocks on a stock spring set (I have like 1/2" pucks to level due to added weight). I second AnnDee4444. If you are not going to add a lift anytime soon or at all, and willing to to invest some cash into a good set of tuned shocks give Accutune Offroad a call...
  6. How do different colors hold up to the abuse of branches running along side of the Jeep?

You're going to see them regardless. I have a dark grey pick up that I have offroaded for years, and see the pinstriping pretty easily. I finished a long trip through northern AZ this summer and my Jeep got pin striped like nobody's business. I will say with white, is that the only way I can see...
  7. Death Valley 10/23

What bandana said ^ lots of micro climates and the wind can be ridiculously brutal. The week I was out there earlier in the year I had warm weather, rain, snow and temps below freezing. Some of which were all in the same given day.
  8. Death Valley 10/23

You should be totally fine on doing Lippencott Pass. I was there back in March. Im on 35's and there was nothing the factory 33's couldn't handle. My buddy with an xterra and 33's handled it no problem. Titus Canyon was fun drive. Mountain shelf roads then in the slot canyons. If you have time...
  9. Winches question from newbie

I agree with the other posts above. I would either go with a take off rubi steel bumper and get the winch plate, or go aftermarket to your taste. As far as sagging goes, measure the height pre install. You can put spacers to assist in that. There are 1/2" and 3/4" depending on how heavy you go...
  10. Jeep snobbery - RANT

You come across that mentality in any enthusiast vehicle. Unfortunately, there will always be many one uppers full of their thoughts and opinions. If I could do it all over again, I should have picked up a Sahara or Sport. I purchased mine based on the fact that I didn't see myself getting the...
  11. Repercussions of regeneration?

I was curious, every manufacturer designs are different, and I wasn't sure if this 3.0L was set up to dump fuel in the exhaust stroke of the motor. I know most are set up this way. The powerstroke only dumps fuel in the exhaust stroke on one bank only. The duramax LML series have a 9th injector...
  12. Repercussions of regeneration?

@summer4x, is that how the 3.0L is set up? Just out of curiosity is all.
  13. Repercussions of regeneration?

I've noticed my 6.7L (first gen) Ford hits passive regen when it's under heavier load either long road trip drives with speeds at 75 or greater, especially on grades unloaded. I want to say when my EGT's are at around 600-650+ the DPF load stabilizes and starts to drop a little bit but it does...
  14. Nitto Trail Grapplers M/T 35x12.5x17

I have the same tire, but honestly I have ran with Mud Terrain tires for so long on numerous vehicles it's kind of normal to me. Granted, they are no where near as bad as Boggers especially at 15 mph or slower. I have noticed a very faint floor board vibration doing 55-65 mph since throwing them...
  15. Coil Springs and/ or Spacers

I am the same way, the build is half the fun. What made you move on from your last JL to this one if you don't mind me asking?
  16. Coil Springs and/ or Spacers

That sounds like a lot of work to run 35s! They should fit without a lift. And if you gained 2" by just shocks alone which boggles my mind, then you should have plenty of room as it sits now. Try it with 35s before going through all that trouble.
  17. Evo Pro Long Arm vs Metalcloak 3.5 Game Changer for JLUR

I know your pain man, I have plans for my build in a similar direction. I tend to over build but half the enjoyment I get is from wrenching on it. For now, I am wheeling mine stock or slightly modified for the next year or two. Mainly because I want to do 1 tons, suspension, and all that stuff...
  18. Fire Extinguisher Recommendations?

LOL! I have those thoughts all time with a 15LB Powertank in the back. I just hope their mount holds up if it ever came down to it. I went Element months ago too. Hope I never have to use it.
  19. Cancelled upgrades

I will admit, I am a bit excited to see a V8, but at this point, I don't think I will ever get rid of mine to start over or play the exchange of parts game. I hope a CA legal kit will come out of this some how... or wait for somebody to wrap one up and I can get it for a donor take the power...
  20. Trans Temp

Yeah mine runs "warm" too. Primarily between the oil and coolant temp. So far the trans temp hasn't been as high as the OP, but the temp is never too far behind the others. I have learned to get use to it. Everybody says that's normal even when it doesn't seem right. I've noticed the meter seems...
