  1. How many miles is enough to begin modifications?

It depends on how long you want to go before doing any extensive mods which might cause the dealer to deny a warranty claim if it ever comes up.
  2. Would 5'6" wife have issues climbing in / out of Rubicon?

Exactly. My 5'-3/4" tall wife turns 59 in a few months and has no trouble getting in/out of her 2020 JLURR.
  3. Would 5'6" wife have issues climbing in / out of Rubicon?

My wife's DD is a 2020 Rubicon Recon. She's 5'-3/4" and has no trouble getting in and out of it. It's all about technique.
  4. Dogs...show 'em

Our Tiberius (Ty). My wife is a Star Trek geek, she named him.
  5. Question About Jeep Value (before I take delivery today)

The rule of thumb is you lose 20% of a new vehicle's value as soon as you drive it off the lot. Think about that before you hop in and drive away.
  6. Does anyone use these prepaid oil change coupons at the dealership?

Amazon has 5W-30 Valvoline full synthetic 5qt jugs for around $21.50 and I've found the Mopar oil filters online elsewhere for around $8.50. Thus, $30 for a DIY oil change. We still have one free Jeep Wave oil change left. After that, I will be DIY on it every 5k miles.
  7. Rubicon owners . Dash display

My wife's 2020 JLU Recon says WRANGLER.
  8. When you have to bring the whole family along!!

Heck, I thought it was going to be a pic of something like this:
  9. Topless Drivers

Hmm...just because we can doesn't mean we HAVE to. If I want to experience the open air as I move along I'll get out my motorcycle or bicycle. Even then, I wear a helmet. 😉
  10. Jeep keeps draining battery overnight

That should be easy enough to check. Pull the fuse to the radio and see if the parasitic drain problem stops.
  11. Topless Drivers

Pretty close to our habits. Ours is my wife's dd and she had the top and doors off her old 2013 JK maybe 5 days per year. She wasn't interested in sunburns either or getting soaked in the occasional pop-up shower with the unpredictable St. Louis weather. She's had her 2020 Recon 8 months now...
  12. Driving Stick at the Toledo Plant

This thread reminded me of when I worked in production at a Chrysler assembly plant back in the 80s. I was one of two who drove them off the line and to the roll test stations. Occasionally, we had to drive a stick shift. Those were exports but we'd get a few off the line per shift. My...
  13. Time to say goodbye...for now

All I can say is look up the dimensions of that thing and measure how it will fit in your garage. We did that when my wife was thinking of buying a Gladiator before she bought her JLU and there was going to be about 1 ft clearance between the front bumper and the storage cabinets. Thus, the JLU...
  14. (for those living in snow only): how often do you take your rig to the car wash in the winter?

Same here. If for nothing else, it gets the salt off the undercarriage. Washing any of my vehicles in my driveway in the middle of winter when it's 30 degrees outside would not be my first choice for cleaning it.
  15. Gas smell

I'd like to know this, too. Our 2020 2.0L turbo Recon still has the strong gas smell that just started a few weeks ago. The dealer says it is common for this in colder weather. They had it for 8 days and could not find the source, although they said they could smell it, too. It seems to be...
  16. Using a Rubicon as a daily driver

My wife's Recon is her DD. She has yet to take it off-road but that's not why she bought it. Except for a few personalized magnets on the tailgate its exactly how it was when it rolled off the Toledo assembly line. It's a 2.0L turbo and she gets 22 mpg as a DD, about 5 mpg better than her old...
  17. (for those living in snow only): how often do you take your rig to the car wash in the winter?

I take mine after they salt the roads and wait a few days until the roads are mostly dry. If we don't get much snow that could mean over a month between washes during the winter. I just bought a spa club membership for my wife's Recon for Christmas. She will be able to take it to the...
  18. Trouble shifting to 4H

Not all of them. Our Recon came with steel bumpers as standard equipment from the factory.
  19. One Confusing part of the Rubicon vs. Sahara question.

^^^Same with us. Our Recon is my wife's dd and she has not let the tires touch dirt in 8 months of ownership.
  20. 2020 Wrangler Engine Catches Fire, Vehicle Burns

    I believe it's still fall until December 21st. 😉
