This is the hook setup that came with my X-Bull winch, 13,500 lb XRS model. While I didn’t reach Tier 1 Elite status the winch works well so far and the hook lies flat and behind the front plate very well.
I have this also and it works great. Only disadvantage is crawling under to disconnect and reconnect. Put some anti seize on the screw before you install it and run it in and out to distribute it on the screw to avoid rust. Reapply some every now and again on the exposed threads and run the...
If you spray when it’s wet and dirty, yes. Don’t do that and it’s fine. I did mine when brand new and just do occasional touch ups following washes. But I power wash underneath so I don’t have mud and filth.
Use flat black Rustoleum spray paint to touch up the axles and wherever. I also liberally use the professional grade rubberized undercoating all over underneath. Frame, body, braces, etc. Has done a great job on all vehicles I’ve had throughout the years in the salt and snow we get here.
I’m...
I put our Sunrider on a few months after we bought our High Tide, which comes with the top as an accessory, and have never removed it. Drive all year with it including snow and ice. No problems at all.
Great info and appreciate your posting it. However, be aware almost nobody will read it because the first post is the last they read before typing out their half page diatribe.
I recently installed a winch on our High Tide and I was considering a cutoff switch. Ultimately I didn’t do it but may do it later down the road. They all seemed huge to me, wanted something compact but maybe that’s not possible.
Just as important is cable routing and protection. I strongly...
Krylon Black Satin Textured paint. Get 2 cans and re-paint everything inside and out, clean the surface first with rubbing alcohol on a paint brush. It's an exact match to the paint that comes on it, but there will be scuffs and scratches on the bumper and skid plate so re-paint everything...
An aftermarket Jeep Rubicon style steel bumper with a steel skid plate and X-Bull winch. Got everything on eBay. I have regular Rubicon LED fog lights which fit fine. Came with the winch plate, license bracket and bull bar. I did repaint everything before installing, makes it look way better.
Mopar has a rock rail which is also a step, it’s essentially a wider rock rail. While pricey it’s also properly finished so it isn’t going to turn to rust from rock hits in a few months like most of the aftermarket rails.
eTorque is awesome and the stop/start function is seamlessly smooth. I don't really notice any boost when moving away from a stop, but whatever it provides is great.
The V6 Pentastar is an outstanding engine. It's essentially a high-performance engine that runs on 87 octane with smoothness...
I just replaced the original plastic front bumper on my High Tide with an aftermarket steel Rubicon style front bumper and an X-Bull 13,500 lb winch.
I tried to find an original take off steel bumper with no luck. The very few I found online either had significant damage or missing parts. All...
I’m wanting to put a Steer Smarts Yeti XD front adjustable track bar on my High Tide. I have an ARB front differential cover installed, which works fine with my stock bar. Will the Steer Smarts track bar work ok with the ARB cover? Anyone have any experience with this setup? Is the Steer...
What is the “small battery?” If you have the 2 stacked over each other under the hood, that’s not the eTorque. Just regular ESS. Maybe you mean the 12v battery?
On the JLWrangler Forum the only safe towing ever recommended is something the size and weight of a Red Ryder wagon with a bag of groceries in it. Anything else is liability, loss of control, wrecks, damage, children being thrown in the air, dogs and cats living together and death.
Ours is doing great. Super smooth stops and starts. I’m glad to have it.
I replaced both front and rear differential covers around the 11,000 mile mark so have new fluid in both. Rear is limited slip so will change it again around 20,000 miles.
Get both. While the 3/8" will do a lot, that high torque 1/2" will for sure get the job done. If you do any amount of work on vehicles, especially Jeep wheels and suspension, high powered impacts are a must, both 3/8 and 1/2". I also would recommend a 3/8" or 1/4" electric ratchet. You can...
