Agree caster and great shocks are so very important… I have had a great experience with teraflex and 5 degrees caster… 37” or 39” or trailers and or kayaks… rock solid…
Don’t waste your time, fca engineers and related mechanics are bound by epa - mpg constraints… root cause is too steep king pin angle, get adjustable lower control arms I.e. EVO set to 5 degrees, problem solved.
FYI: you will read a lot of complex “causes”, that do not address “root” cause. In fca wisdom they are maximizing for epa - mpg, thus a very steep king pin angle. Just replace the lower control arms with adjustable ones I.e. EVO and set to 5 degrees, problem solved. Yes all the mods help, but...
My 2018 jlru had those factory steel and they bent both corners into the tubs.
If your doing hard trails, LOD (rear only) has held up to all the California rock trails…
Front factory steel does not get abused, thus go with what you like… I’m cheap, thus eBay was my answer for the front (...
Get falcon adjustable… prob solved… I often tow a military trailer thousands of miles with a seven day over land load as well… wind is not an issue once you adjust the shocks and tire pressure for the loads.
You should consider a third, folks that wheel in the dense mountains and extreme rocks.. 392 and 4 doors struggle and many break in stock form. Where a simple 2 door with a v6 and 100:1 (4:88 w 37 maxxis), makes easy no drama days on the trail, lots to say about lower weight… (4k)
On my 2018, I had the steel factory bumpers, they are weak and will bend into the rear tub with minor hits.. it will not hold the weight of the Jeep.
On my 24’s, after much research I went with LOD.. so far they have held up well on all the extreme trails.. and a love all the mount points, (8...
You’re right on! Replace lca with adjustable evo and add teraflex adjustable stab.. at 5degrees problem solved, no over thinking it… it’s real basic problem and fca knows it.. they are Being stupid… (< 5 degrees )..
Yes all those other fixes can help, but it is not root cause…
I had mine for years, multiple trips (100’s) and the shops… agree the ride is ok, but not even close to the big boys.. the ability to fine tune can not be underestimated imho.. just sharing my experiences…
Mopar lift and stock is junk (leaked after 5k) save your money. You need adjustable lower control arms, like evo. I would take a hard look at teraflex springs - falcon (matched set ) … I have heard good results with metal cloak, but I have no experience with them.
Trailrecon did a great review...
Well, my experience is not the same. Don’t miss match springs and shocks… the teraflex springs are multi rate, matched to the falcons. I have a 2 door jlr, loaded or un loaded, a simple dial turn is all that is needed… smooth as can be in a 4000lb Jeep
Mopar and fox are junk, leaked in < 5k...
I had a terrible experience with fca, them
Lemon law fix it,., crown dodge in Ventura recommended “ally” as the warranty provider… so far so good…
Well I’m not sure we are aligned “serious trails”.. I have blown 2 bfg AT in less than a year. So far the 39” BFG MT are holding up, never I see bfg at on serious trails, lots on dirt roads.. i have wheeling in Sierras, longer than people have been alive and it’s 12 hour drive to the trail...
I normally run maxxis treps or creepies.. but they very costly but perform like no other.
I took another chance on bfg my 39” for my. 2 door jlr. I was surprised my how many miles on them so far (20k).. and they flex well at 10 psi…. Nice quiet street tire :)
On the Fordyce trial a few small...
