You talk as if these things were mysterious or didn't exist. People have been offroading and overlanding Rivians for years. Gwagon EVs are out. All EVs have well protected and skidplated batteries.
As far as Stelantis EV reliability....the Charger is awful. The Wagoneer S is merely very bad...
Why would an EV Wrangler-type vehicle be scrapped? EVs are the perfect platform for an offroad vehicle, specially one done right - like the Rivian quad motor set up.
A quad motor EV has monstrous torque from zero RPM. Offers great throttle control. There is no need for lockers or transfer cases...
Raised from the dead.....
Has this facility been built? Was hoping this is where Jeeps with 37s and Dana 50s/60s would come from.
Anyone knows anything?
Not to mention that he hails from hot Texas, yet decided to double block the airflow to the radiator. First with a mesh grill, then with a giant, high mounted winch. I'm surprised that Jeep still runs.
For my Jeep, that I depend for bringing me back from several miles from any road and cell...
I have a 300-400A in line high capacity fuse. I think it is a simple, inexpensive way to minimize chances of a fire. If I had a high amp, high quality switch available at the time I did the install, I'd have used that.
But at lease it is fused.
This is what I used...
Here is sad, but interesting fact. BMW is the only major brand that does not have a single off-road targeted rugged vehicle. No body on frame vehicles at all. Not even something like a Passport Trailsport. Even Porsche has the 911 Dakar. Mercedes, of course has the G-Wagon, Audi is testing the...
For a BMW driver, the turn signal stalk can be repurposed for other functions. If I were to attempt this conversion, I'd make turn signal stalk down be rear locket, stalk up front locker, stalk forward both lockers. Extremely convenient since BMW-engined vehicles do not need turn signal indicators.
Didn't read the whole thread, but you can just install the Mopar Accuair lift kit.

It has adjustable air suspension you can slam it to park and make it tall for the trails.
It has been engineered for the JL and works with 392, Diesel, 4xe, etc...
As a Wrangler and BMW M car owner, my recommendation to the OP is to keep the two worlds separate. Both Wrangler and M cars have unique and wonderful qualities and strengths. But the vehicle architectures, design targets, etc are completely different. There are so many sensors and computers...
Believe it or not, the vast majority of people buying Wranglers in 2018 and now have no idea what a JK or JL is, what a Pentastar or Hurricane is. they mostly look at colors, price and these days the size of the screen.
Why do you think Jeep is always coming up with new colors, or new...
I'm shocked at how old "experienced" our enthusiast group is :)
This does not bode well for Jeep, if they can't attract younger buyers. I also think we skew terribly male vs female.
And since our sport is mostly conducted on dirt.....
This makes it a dirt old man ownership group.
On my C7 Corvette Z-51 and Camaro SS1LE I drove them always in track more so the stupid cylinder deactivation would not trigger. Still the exhaust valve control of the C7 melted and failed on track, and that stuff was needed to prevent the horrible sounds the engine made while operating in 4...
It just sickens me how much of what we think is poor engineering is simply manufacturers trying to comply with regulations, like fuel economy standards.
Ridiculously thin oils to gain a fraction of an MPG. Start-stop to gain a fraction of an MPG. Ridiculously thin windshields that crack when...
That is good to know. I'm itching to buy my next off-roader, and the Wrangler is still at the top of the list. I'm just holding off a pit to see if MY2026 brings anything new - maybe 37s from the factory and beefier axles. I do like what Jeep did on the 2024/2025 Rubicon X.
Glad you figured it out. I was just as puzzled as you 4 years ago when I bought mine, put 37s on, and put the tazer only to find out that the speedo apparently did not need adjustment. I thought I had thrown money away on the tazer, until I decided to investigate and found out that it is a Car...
Yes, sir. It was also the highest unit sales year for the Wrangler ever because of that. They had two factories pumping them out at the same time one pumping out the old, one pumping out the new.
OP - some of the issues with car play are related to the power draw of newer iphones when connected to the USB-A (e.g. in the console). It works much better over USB-C from the dash.
Since I didn't want the wires hanging from there, I bought a cheap Amazon wireless car play adapter, plugged...
