That looks great. Do you have more details on the kit you bought, amount of lift advertised and actual lift gained?
What's the ride like with this setup?
Typically you guys in the US of A have it better than what we do down under in Australia. We do however get a higher towing capacity here - on the 4 door it is 2500kg (5500 pounds). It's probably the only area where we are not more limited, for example we get the 3.6 Pentastar as the only engine...
Thanks for a very informative and detailed post. I'm sure this will come in handy for many as their JLs age and it gets to the point of having to replace batteries. Great write up.
How did you go with the spare tyre? Did you also find the rubber bumpers on the bottom are squashed down quite a lot? I only have 285/70R17 and had to trim these a bit.
I'm getting used to it, it's not too bad. My biggest gripe is that there's no footrest for the left leg, that would make it so much more comfortable. I may look at putting in a few nutserts for attaching some kind of footrest.
Thanks mate, there’s quite a bit of squashing going on. I might need to cut more than that, but will start with small increments so as not to remove too much.
No offroad pics yet, just had the new tyres fitted today - Falken Wildpeak AT3W in a 285/70R17.
I'm getting slight rubbing on a tight turn (full lock only), I think the wheels are touching the edges of the plastic trim pieces behind the front bullbar - will be removing these.
EDIT: on taking...
What did I do TO my Jeep? Nothing, but I did have a tyre shop treat Korg to some new shoes.
Out with the stock 255/75R17 KM2
In with new Falken AT3W in 285/70R17
I think your dealer might be the problem if you’ve waited that long for some other parts. It took just over 4 weeks from when I spoke to the dealer until they contacted me to say the parts arrived from the US.
As mentioned in my last post, the dealer received the parts to do the TSB on my JLUR.
I will update again but so far the first impressions are quite positive. I’ve only driven from the dealer back to work and then home. The steering feels slightly heavier than before and has a significant...
They will cut/butcher your rear bumper even if it’s for a factory towbar in Australia. This is due to the different style of bumper we get on the overseas model compared to the US model. Wait until you see the ridiculous number plate relocation on the factory option - the ARB number plate...
Just an update, got a call from the dealership last week, the parts have arrived and I’ll be taking the Jeep in for this TSB in about 2 weeks. Will report back once it’s been done and I’ve had some time to test it.
