  1. Favorite Diff skids?

I chose Rancho front and rear, but maybe for different reasons. Yes, they may not have the same clearance as others, but they are more open and easier to clean. 5 months of salt and snow means the flat skids will do not trap as much debris, and when it does, it has been much easier to clean...
  2. Grinding noise in 4WD on brand new Rubicon

I think this might be what you're talking about... And his solution is posted below...
  3. Virginia Trying to find reasonable price for a steel bumper part

Have you considered this option? https://www.hkoffroad.com/products/jeep-wrangler-jl-jt-shackle-tab-kit-for-stock-rubicon-bumpers
  4. Engine to transmission case plugs

My JL has now lost both rubber plugs that cover the holes between the engine and transmission. I have been searching online to replace these plugs, but have come up empty. I'm wondering at this point just how useful these plugs are? I have not bothered to stick a camera up into that cavity to...
  5. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

Did you check the compressed shock to make sure the roost guard (black cover) would not hit the piggyback? It looks like it's on backwards.
  6. Sway Bar Link Angle - Rock Krawler

I have a Teraflex lift, and the front angle is even higher, almost 30º. The lift is 3" in the front and the links are about 11". The reason is exactly as shown in @Roky s post above. Because of the disconnecting swaybar on the Rubicon, there is enough droop for it to lock up.
  7. Winter is coming! ** New style hood latches jamming up with snow and ice **

No. 2 harsh Canadian winters already and I've never had an issue with the hood latches...
  8. 8.4 screen protectors?

The tempered glass protectors are nice, but I much prefer the matte look. No fingerprints, no glare. Mine was like this. 2+ years, no issues, no complaints.
  9. Tapping into rear 12v port power

The photo above is from inside the swing-gate, behind the plastic panel. Some dealers add the flasher in this location. You can also add it inside the bracket that the CHMSL is mounted on.
  10. Post Your Cool Random JL pics. Pics. Pics, pics, pics!

I just saw the last video from this trip... That trail would be a blast, but Virgil's right about not caring that much about your paint! Pinstripes look good on Sting Gray anyways, right?! Cheers!
  11. Thoughts on Rust-proofing, undercoating, paint protection?

My local Jeep shop does a custom spray mix that I have applied once or twice a year. Plus I keep cans of Fluid Film on hand to cover any exposed areas... But have a look at this thread: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/the-great-rust-proofing-poll.3843/
  12. Trim pool

That's G status, right before inspection. Have a look here: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/the-dummies-guide-to-jl-ordering-status.4028/post-95870
  13. Good Decision?

Don't mistake the eTorque system with ESS (stop/start), they have virtually nothing to do with each other, except that I believe the eTorque belt-start generator replaces the standard starter motor. I was planning to get the 2.0L eTorque back in 2018, but for some reason it wasn't available on...
  14. Tapping into rear 12v port power

You should be able to find what you're looking for here: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/jeep-jl-wrangler-wiring-diagrams.19185/ Start with "POWER OUTLETS..." and "POWER TOP SYSTEM..." The dash 12V accessory plug is Pink/Yellow for power. The Orange/Gray wire is a lamp driver.
  15. West of Montréal...anyone out here?

The Bolt lock was super easy. I did NOT use the rivets that came with it, only because my rivet gun is not large enough. Nuts and bolts for now, I'll carry the rivets in the console and pop them in the next time I can get my hands on a decent rivet gun. The Rokblokz were not yet available...
  16. West of Montréal...anyone out here?

I had some work on my previous pickup done at 4WheelParts in Chateauguay. I buy some parts there too if the price is right. I think my Smittybilt winch came from there. I find they're usually too busy to be helpful, but that's what happens when there aren't many shops around. I was at MAD4x4...
  17. West of Montréal...anyone out here?

Cheers! I live downtown, but I do spend some time in the Waste-Island... There are not many Montrealers active on these forums. I see a ton of STOCK JLs downtown, but not many who get them dirty like me. Recommendations? Garage MAD4x4 is in St-Laurent (Henri-Bourassa/A13). Adam and Michael...
  18. STING GRAY Wrangler JL Club

2LB or greater fire suppression device required to carry onboard in many off road trail areas. Plus it's just a good idea to have one. Some off road areas also require med/trauma kit and shovel. Good practice to also have a whole assortment of other gear like a spill kit (for oil/other fluids)...
  19. 2021 Adds Two Additional USB Ports?

Well, those are both identified as change-only based on the little battery icon. On mine, the left is USB3 and the right is charge-only. Which model year and UConnect system do you have?
  20. 2021 Adds Two Additional USB Ports?

Well, to quote the 2021 press kit, "Wrangler now offers two additional USB ports (charge only)". When FCA says they "offer" something, that could mean a lot... My 2018 Rubicon with 8.4 has a pair (1 USB-C, 1 USB-A) in the dash as USB1 in UConnect, a single USB-A in the center console as USB2...
