if your willys had full time auto this might be a tricky swap finding a 4hi-auto transfer case from rubicon. If you are on part time 4hi transfer case its an easy swap to do a takeoff rubicon part time transfer case and use JScan to set your transfer case gear ratio.
hothead headliner with sound assasin strips installed - I measured about 2-3db quieter on the same stretch of road at asme cruising speed post install.
4xe is plenty powerful and has torque where you need it the most - low end off-road.
I run a light 37 (64lb KO2) and have not seen any reason for regear... i see 8th all the time on regular roads too when cruising.
I ran that size on stock.. i might have mentioned that I was going to move to a new wheel at that time as I liked another one with a bit more clearance.
You have to also tell us what change you seek without changing ride height? Because the simple answer will be to get an aggressive at tire like falken at3w on that exact size you have on there.
If you want wider tire, poke out look vs tucked in look, change wheels for aesthetics.. There's so...
These HTOs might have been a better choice for me a year back when I ended up going for the Fox 2.0 RRs. Based on the video from shock surplus and the internal tech of HTO it feels like that would have been a much better choice for the heavy 4xe on 37s - I think it would have helped stiffen up...
Sport, Sahara - stick to 33s if you don't want to change anything else at all.
Rubicon, Willys (2024+) - you can clear 35s with caveat that you might have slight rub at full-flex and swaybar disconnected. Again assuming you dont want to change anything else at all.
if you are willing to change...
baja boss 37s are 80lb per tire, not rated for install on 7.5" wide wheels (stock wheels are mostly no go, those tires are super wide profile and have notoriously thick beads). With 3.73 gear ratio on your 4xe Sport S, that tire size increase and weight is going to put a ton of rotational...
My off-road shop is an AEV certified installer, they got a set of springs from parts order. Northridge has the set for purchase too if I remember.
I have the Fox 2.0 reservoir series, they are a softer/plush riding shocks that are better paired with higher rate coils. With softer coils (mopar)...
Updates / Changes to the build
Swapped to a new wheel set - Defiant DF01 Satin Black 17x8 +12. Its basically a replica of the pre-2024 XR wheel in satin black. I have been a fan of that understated rugged design and wanted to try this one on.
Removed the mopar lift springs + 1" spacer combo...
They run a tad small but not like an inch smaller.. that's usually a bad rep that is not fully warranted. TBH if you look at the rotations per mile number its not too off.. comes to 36.4" as opposed to other tires hovering around 36.6 ish. Only very few tires are true 37s
BFG KO2 - the tire with compromises that I didnt care deeply about. (Mud, Wet traction after 50% wear).
They are super silent on road, C-rated, weighs 65lb for 37s, flex amazingly at 15psi, can drive confidently on snowed roads/hwy, holds up good on wet weather as long as I am careful on deeper...
If your model came with a power box and IDCM inverter, then there are some advantages of using your high voltage battery as an overlanding generator. If thats not the case the advantages are just the same as any other wrangler.
I might have an extra cross bar for you to use. DM me on instagram.
Also you could order a set of just the front section from partsengine.ca and use the cross bars for bolstering the rear. I ran with 4 rear and 2 front cross bars on my prev JLU with a huge ass 185lb smittybilt XL tent with no...
@Asfir-Eric & @ASFIR4X4
Thank you! if they can find a way to wrap around and protect the resonator (extend the battery skid on that part so that it mounts one some of the frame bolt spots), and cover the center section gaps where the coolant lines run to the battery - that would be perfect for 4xe.
yeah thats what I have right now.. they do decently well so haven't actively tried to replace it unless something exceeds its performance on trails, looks OEM and doesnt cost an arm and leg (i.e. rockslide eng)
Don't do it. You are getting a suspension that was made for supporting ~450lb additional weight on the front and additional weight of 4dr + hardtop on the rear. I bet on your 2 Dr pentastar, you will end up with a carolina squat nose up stance. Additionally the spring and shocks (read spring...
