Hers is the MetalCloak’s Overland Rocker & Flip Step & Aluminum Rocker ExoSkin Armor. Drilling all the holes in the body was pretty unnerving, but went well. Definitely taking the steps off before crawling.

I did alot of research and did consider the LoD’s: Signature Series, Armor Lites and the Destroyers. It was a tough call. But I wanted to try the body mounted connection. I think the toughest aluminum body mounts out there are Genright’s & Nemesis. But with those, the step elevation is high.

That looks really cool man. The black and red really go well together. I hope they serve the purpose you are hoping for. I plan on applying a layer of Black RTV on the back sides my Exo Skins and let it cure before I fasten them to the body. I’m waiting for mine to show up. I’ll post when I get...

  11. Opinions needed: Best frame mounted Rock Sliders that serve well for body protection and as a step?

Thank you, Agreed. I had to have somewhat the best of both worlds. I’ll take the step portion off when I play hard.
  12. Opinions needed: Best frame mounted Rock Sliders that serve well for body protection and as a step?

Okay, I ordered the Metalcloak Overland Rocker & Flip Step and the Aluminum Rocker Exoskins. We’ll have to run these through the rocks and see how well they do. Good luck with your Overlines. Let me know how you like them. I was strongly considering the Genright: #RCG-20104 Alum. Step-Rocker...

I agree totally that the frame mounted rails have too much flex. You may be onto something with the body mounted rail design. I was checking out a few different manufacturers today. They all seem to offer several more attachment points which I think would provide more rigidity and protection...
  14. Opinions needed: Best frame mounted Rock Sliders that serve well for body protection and as a step?

Thank you TonyG for your opinions. All of your points are noted. I agree, the shorter the brackets, the less flexing. I’m considering body armor along with whatever I end up choosing. I’m also reconsidering body mounted rails in lieu of frame mounted. After checking out a few different...
  15. Opinions needed: Best frame mounted Rock Sliders that serve well for body protection and as a step?

Another unfortunate badge of honor. I don’t have faith that body mounted rails would protect any better. Adding body armor seems to be a must have if I’m going to play hard.
  16. Opinions needed: Best frame mounted Rock Sliders that serve well for body protection and as a step?

That sucks man. I don’t think you can buff that out. Sorry for your misfortune but thank you for the heads up.
  17. Opinions needed: Best frame mounted Rock Sliders that serve well for body protection and as a step?

Looks great and I like removable steps. How close is the slider tubes to the pinch weld flange? Do you need to floss that area?
  18. Opinions needed: Best frame mounted Rock Sliders that serve well for body protection and as a step?

Yeah, Im not a advocate of removing the body bolts. My luck I’ll break those damn things. I know applying heat will break down the thread locker but could also weaken the bolt hardness and damage the body bushing. I’m going to avoid that route.
  19. Opinions needed: Best frame mounted Rock Sliders that serve well for body protection and as a step?

Yes, also considering these over the LOD Destroyers. Thanks for the input.
