  1. New JL owner

Cool Willys! I'm with you on the body color top and fenders. I like the contrast of the matte black. Plus, I figure it would be cheaper to replace if there is some tree rash while crawling. But I did change the wheels and tires rather quickly. I still went with KO2s but in 37". and...
  2. Costs

Right now diesel is cheaper than regular at my local station. 30 MPG high is great. DEF is about $8 for 2.5 gallons at Walmart, which lasts for months. Now let’s factor in something that is not cost related... having an alternative fueled vehicle. Few years ago we had a small gas crunch...
  3. Power steps really worth it?

Hmm, I didn’t say that as eloquently as you....but yeah.
  4. Power steps really worth it?

Yes, they are worth it. JLURD, 2.5 AEV lift, 37 KO2s. My wife is 5’2”. Before the Rockslide steps, I was having to help her get in. I’m 6’ and find it useful to get in too. Also a great place to stand when folding the top back. My RSE steps made the Jeep fun for us both.
  5. Sirius trial running out...

On Sirius I listen to 3 to 4 channels. Just not many choices per genre and I don’t switch genres much. I listen to I hear radio. Punch in favorite artist and they play similar artist. Plus it’s free.
  6. Diesel Lift Kit?

Hi Tom, your rig is looking good. I’m sure it performs just as well. A couple of questions: Did you change the gear ratio or modify the axles? I’m still on the 3.73 and keep thinking 4.56 would be a better ratio. Love the AEV Borah. That is the wheel I‘m using but without any rings and 37...
  7. Overlanding question

I’ve had my KO2s rock crawling at Uwharrie. The KO2 seems to be the perfect overlanding tire. I was referring to a tread pattern that’s at home on a Prius. My last trip to Uwharrie after going up trail dicky bell. A land rover discovery started up on small highway tread, no lockers and...
  8. Overlanding question

I wish I had the need for all that gear. True overlanding looks to be a blast. Love to spend weeks out in the bush. But like most people, providing for my family comes first. That means off to work we go. Still I chuckle at the 600 pounds of gear when the biggest outing is Starbucks a...
  9. Overlanding question

I have been seeing a lot of vehicles with an overlanding theme lately. Here in the Charlotte NC area, we see Lexus, Porsche, Toyota, and Jeep all dressed up to go out. Racks, lights everywhere, extra fuel cans, and those plastic traction boards strapped down accompany some sort of overlanding...
  10. 392 Hemi V8 Wrangler Hinted by MOPAR?

The hydra blue appears to have gold tow hooks. We know how Jeep likes to change colors on them for different models. Red for Rubicon, light blue for 4XE so gold for hemi kinda makes sense. I have my diesel but hope y’all get your V8.
  11. Does your Jeep fit in your garage?

2.5 lift with 37s and it fits In my garage.
  12. 4xe order banks are open...sort of (first ordering details inside)

Because everyone knows that snazzberry is the least fuel efficient color.
  13. What did you name your Jeep JL?

My JLURD is named Tank. Not because of the military machine. There is or at least was a rhinoceros at a zoo in Greenville SC named Tank. He was used in the Land Rover commercials years ago. Tank is big and gray and beats up land rovers. I ordered my JLURD in stingray and the name stuck...
  14. Who actually takes their JL offroad?

I do! At least as much as I can.
  15. Moab Downfall

Thank you for your service. I’ve never been to Moab, so take what I say with a grain of salt. We have been to Uwharrie twice this season. The trails were crowded. However, I will report that I saw no ill tempers and everyone was generally nice. We saw people trying to take an unmodified...
  16. People that had issues with EcoDiesel

I’m glad that Celeste smoothed out for you. I have had one issue with my Tank. A plug going to the exhaust NOx sensors wasn’t making good connection. It took the dealer a few tries to figure it out. Bar Harbor is awesome. Last time I was there, I ate so much lobster that I was starting to...
  17. People that had issues with EcoDiesel

2020 JLURD 9000 miles I had CEL issues. It took the dealer a few times to fig out. there is a plug going to the exhaust NOx sensors. A prong pushed back and was making poor connection. I had no driving problems. This kind of issue could have happened with a gas engine (O2) as well. Not a...
  18. Recommendations for high quality Neoprene seat covers?

I may be alone here but I say DON’T get neoprene if you live in a warm area. I am in NC. I tried neoprene seat covers and they gave me serious swamp ass. The didn’t breathe or something. I just know that after I put them on, a summer trip left me som very sweaty britches.
