  1. Metalcloak installers around Wichita

4x4 Land in Topeka is a Metalcloak dealer. There's also Stompers in the KC area. Bit of a drive but both do really good work.
  2. Help i want put my 37 tires on stock lift

If you have a rubicon you can run 37s if you split the fenders. Look at American Adventure Lab's kit. Splitting the fenders will give you a couple more inches of clearance
  3. no Rubicon with black hard top and fenders

Reed jeep in Kansas city has some. That's where I got mine. Decent pricing and 0% financing right now. Talk to Clayton if you go in there. He's a good guy to deal with
  4. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

Steer Smart said they've been torquing the upper and lower factory ball joints to 65. I might give that a try.
  5. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

Mine is a Metalcloak track bar. I have about 4000 miles on it. I haven't been to hard on it yet.
  6. Steering issues cured by installing new Steering gear box! (per TSB 08-074-20)

Mine still has a little play in it. I also continued to have the floaty feel with mine. Had the alignment checked and my caster was way lower than a thought. I have it set to 6.8 and the float wandering feeling is gone.
  7. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

Still haven't figured it out. In the shop right now getting ready to move my toe in from 1/8 to 1/16. See if that helps. Guess I could always try steer smart's toe out. I know when I had it that way I wasn't getting any wobble. It was chewing up the inside of my tires though.
  8. Anyone know the torque for the new steering box bolts???

I'm not sure what the spec is but mine were really loose, along with my sector shaft nut. I torqued the 4 frame bolts to 99. They didn't strip so I guess I'll leave them at that.
  9. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

I may try that. Everything else looks fine. No visible play in the track bar. My wobble won't go away until I get below 30. Was half tempted to try steer smart's toe out setting
  10. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

I haven't had a chance to check the track bar yet. Waiting for my wife to get home to turn the wheel. The only thing I noticed that might be a little off was where the drag link goes into the knuckle. The end look is not straight up and down with the wheel straight. I did talk to Steer Smart...
  11. Steering issues cured by installing new Steering gear box! (per TSB 08-074-20)

Well if he could focus on the girls the steering couldn't be too bad right? Haha
  12. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

Mine was loose. I checked the torque when I got home from the dealer after it was done. Frame bolts were loose, sector shaft nut was loose, and I was low on fluid. All of those are tight before I took the stabilizer off. I haven't checked that yet. Thats about the only thing I haven't checked.
  13. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

Everything was torqued on the ground. I did a nut and bolt check. All control arms, track bars, steering components..... I checked ball joints by putting a bar under my tires. No up or down movement. Kind of weird.
  14. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

When I hit a bump the steering wheel starts going back and forth until I slowed down. It wasn't just a couple shakes back and forth. The wheel would go back and forth from about 10 to 2 o'clock continuously. I've had more violent death wobble in my old JK. This wasn't as bad. Almost a slow...
  15. Death Wobble Without Stabilizer

I have the steering stabilizer off my JLUR and kept getting death wobble. When I'd hit a bump going 35-50 mph. I've got a Metalcloak 3.5 Game Changer, track bar brace, Steer Smart tie rod and drag link. Alignment specs are 1/8" toe in (.43*) and I'm at 6.8* caster. Everything is torqued to spec...
  16. CASTER 6 or 5.5???

Wouldn't setting the arms on the passenger side longer make the pull to the left worse?
  17. CASTER 6 or 5.5???

This pull is opposite of the road crown. After the adjustment the thrust angle is out. The only thing I can think of is maybe my track bar is binding and pulling the axle?
  18. CASTER 6 or 5.5???

I took my caster from 5 to 6.5 and it took care of the wandering. Now I have a pretty hard pull to the left. I spun both uppers the same number of turns. I had my alignment checked before and after. The caster is where I want it but now my thrust angle is off? Assuming that's what is causing the...
  19. New JL Steering Issue TSB 08-074-20 (for "Improved Steering Feel")

I recommend everyone that has had their steering box replaced check the torque on their sector shaft nut and the bolts holding the box to the frame. My sector shaft was maybe around 100 ft lbs and the frame bolts were very loose. I also have no power steering fluid in my tank.
  20. Steering issues cured by installing new Steering gear box! (per TSB 08-074-20)

I just noticed my power steering fluid tank was completely empty. I had the new box installed a couple weeks ago.
