  1. Gen3 Tone Wheel Issue

I know they put the Gen2 in the Grand Cherokees up until 2020. My wrangler is a 2021. It "should" have a Gen 3, but makes me think they had a leftover Gen2 and it ended up in my 2021. No idea how to tell what really ended up in mine; however, it hasn't had an issue since the repair.
  2. Gen3 Tone Wheel Issue

I got a call today. It seems my mechanic cut his vacation short. I hope it wasn't due to anything bad but he got it put back together this morning. Considering a pulled transmission, DEF tank and other parts he mentioned to me in conversation last week, I was thinking a couple of days. The...
  3. Gen3 Tone Wheel Issue

I only got the Gen2/Gen3 issue from looking at the RAM 1500 forums concerning the EcoDiesel. It seemed to be a bigger issue there, but most likely due to the larger number of implementations in that vehicle. My technician is going on vacation, so I got a call to stop by and pick up a rental...
  4. Gen3 Tone Wheel Issue

Last update is it is definitely the tone wheel. It also sits "across the road." from the main shop and the tech is on vacation next week. Means it could be a week or more to resolve.
  5. Gen3 Tone Wheel Issue

I bought the vehicle last April. About 4 weeks in, it started jerking on acceleration, but only uphill. In Florida we don't have hills. I took it Memorial Day to Tennessee with a trailer and it showed up there a lot more but only periodically. I was worried it was due to compression loss in...
  6. Gen3 Tone Wheel Issue

I wanted to clarify that this isn't with respect to factory rims. The tone wheel sits in-between the engine and transmission is what is what works with the crankshaft position sensor.
  7. Gen3 Tone Wheel Issue

Without getting into the dealer drama, has anyone had a tone wheel in a Gen3 cracked like the Gen2? Mine is being replaced, luckily with warranty, but curious if anyone else has had it? Mine is a 2021 and wondering if a Gen2 somehow ended up in mine as I know they were still putting them in...
  8. Odd series of errors

It is a 2021 with around 52K miles, so it is about 3 years old. I do see that it is usually charging for the autostart/stop, which I really have thought of bypassing. It rarely does the shutdown at a redlight. Still, 3-4 years old for batteries seems short lived but I know things are not made...
  9. Odd series of errors

I spoke too soon. I went to get some plants with my wife and it started jerking again. AT least this time around she didn't say anything about trading it in on a toyota this go around. I cleared everything and it seems to be back to normal. I really think it is an electrical gremlin. If it...
  10. Transmission Adaptive Learning Reset

I know this is an old post but curious about what that shifting felt like? I have a diesel and it is currently throwing a crank shaft position sensor which has already been replaced. Mine feels like it is what I call transmission slap. It jerks you around, but only on up-hill or load (small...
  11. ETC, ESC, and CEL notifications…please help

Curious, I had much of the same issues but no Turbo CEL pop up. Did you happen to have any jerking on acceleration?
  12. Determining "real" suspension height

They advertise them as 36.5 but yep, 35.5 according to the Stanley Tape Measure. False Advertising :(
  13. Determining "real" suspension height

I was looking to be sure as I don't remember if I put 2 or 2.5 spacers but needed quite a bit of space to keep the stock wheels and was a lot cheaper. The tires are 37's but technically KO2s are 36.5. I am going to need to find someone with a stock diesel willy's which may be difficult to find...
  14. Determining "real" suspension height

I bought a RockCrawler 2.5 inch lift for a diesel but after getting it installed, high clearance fenders and 37's, it definitely seems a lot more than 2.5. I used this as a gauge to determine actual height https://www.wranglerforum.com/threads/jl-jlu-average-factory-height-diagram.2453097/ I...
  15. Odd series of errors

Sorry for the delayed update. I replaced the crank-shaft position sensor, which I was worried was a fix masking another issue (i.e. the Tone wheel issue from the gen 2 showing up in my gen 3). So far no issues and the jerking I would get going up-hill (and I mean anything you could call a hill...
  16. Odd series of errors

So this issue showed up again. If I clear all the codes, it barely makes it out of the driveway before it shuts off. If I don't clear it, and shut it off for a bit, a CEL remains and runs just fine. Last night I went to go to the store and the CEL was gone and is still gone. My crank-shaft...
  17. I have a new fuel pump!

My understanding is that is just on the Powertrain. I don't think that covers sensors, computers and so forth, but I might be wrong. I will have to do a little more research. I can always cancel the extended warranty. Also sorry for the rant above. It was just a bad day for vehicles.
  18. I have a new fuel pump!

Honestly it is coincidence, and being facetious (like really facetious, so read on with that understanding). I have had issues with acceleration going up a slight hill or pulling a trailer with kayaks since I bought the Jeep in April 23. I was hoping it was an issue with the pump and lack of...
  19. I have a new fuel pump!

I got my new pump and now everything doesn't work. I am going to try to put a new crank shaft position sensor in which is the permanent code there. I have a good extended warranty so will have them fix it if it still doesn't work after that, but as soon as it is running, my wife wants me to...
