  1. Let's see those front Hitch set ups.

I was taking the bar and brackets off for the summer months and decided to take a pic from that angle since I was laying down anyway. They figure you mount it and leave it on - I figured for 15 minutes to take it off in the spring and another 15 to put it back on in the fall - why leave it on...
  2. Let's see those front Hitch set ups.

I had a DrawTite receiver but it didn't play well with the winch plate I originally had, so switched to a Curt receiver. It's still a bit fun to make the Bulldog winch plate work with it, but I got it done. I cut out the skid plate to go around the Curt - then had to pull the skid plate off...
  3. Let's see those front Hitch set ups.

Curt (or DrawTite) - for Wrangler or Gladiator. Handy for maneuvering long trailers into tight parking spots, you can see where you are putting that trailer when you have almost no room to turn it around. They don't hang down that low and you can trim the skid plate to fit around the...
  4. Jeep Wrangler 2024 - Side Step Recommendations

Yeah, I guess I thought I saw the end of the rainbow in your back yard. My wife has thanked me multiple times for installing these on both her JLU and my JT. I like that they are totally out of the way, can't catch or snag on anything when driving, and there when you need them. I've looked at...
  5. Failed Rocker Arm & Camshaft Replacement

Diagnosed from those pictures? And yet many have replaced cams and followers that looked exactly like that and had the new parts last just fine - without any oiling changes. A poorly treated cam can do this just as easily (meaning the heat treatment and hardening) I've seen a whole lot of...
  6. Cam/lifters/etc parts question

Looks like they are a reseller - nothing shown for cams/followers - only forged parts likely made by one of the major companies.
  7. Cam/lifters/etc parts question

No way to know until several people use those parts for thousands of miles and report back. A couple of people using them and saying they lasted for 10K miles means nothing. Frankly, unless from one of the well-known cam companies, I'd avoid it.
  8. New door hinges with zinc plate?

Yes and no. Yes, the poly is a good solution, but the zinc isn't going to disappear as fast as in a water heater or an exchanger like you work with. The door skin isn't steel, the hinge bolted to it isn't steel. (no magnets of any sort will be attracted to any of our Jeep door skins or door...
  9. You bought the wrong vehicle.

My first Jeep vehicle was a 1987 Comanche SporTruck. Charcoal metallic clear coat. Short box, 4 wheel drive, 4.0, T5, light bar, running boards, you name it, it had it. I used it as a farm truck as my 3/4 ton Chevy had pooped out on me, getting expensive to maintain. I hauled anhydrous tanks...
  10. You wanted cheaper prices, right?

I have worked in 2 multinational companies. One was an insurance company - in IT, the other was at Compressor Controls Corp, an electronic engineering company. I found it interesting that at the insurance company - PFG - the very best as solving problems were from - India. They came up with more...
  11. Badland Apex Failure on 2nd Day of Use

And rollers are ok with synthetic? Hmmmmmm...........
  12. 2024 JL aux gauges disappeared

They update over cell. WiFi not needed, at least up through 2023. How about doing a reset - disconnecting both batteries for a few minutes. Otherwise, see the dealer since you just got it.
  13. Badland Apex Failure on 2nd Day of Use

That's exactly the problem mine has - the line can actually rub on the steel bumper opening. I need to cut that opening down a bit so the rope can't possibly touch it and even get a better fairlead as the back side of the one supplied with the apex winch isn't exactly rounded well like the front...
  14. Badland Apex Failure on 2nd Day of Use

Adding to that - I've noted some winch plates situate the Apex winch a bit low and the rope comes through the bumper rubbing on the bottom of the bumper opening. I've talked of putting spacers under my winch to prevent the rope from coming out through the bottom half of the bumper opening. you...
  15. I am sick of back ordered parts.. I may not buy a jeep ever again.

You have a distorted view of how the "supply chain" works. Even that bridge collapse is impacting parts deliveries. There are still major shortages in certain labor markets - businesses around here are operating on skeleton staffing because of lack of workers. Pella, Corp tried dangling massive...
  16. Discussion: what you'll do if the battery dies?

Jump pack. Solar won't do squat if the crank battery is dead because it's bad. You could charge it for a week - and it still likely won't start it. If I'm going out where I'd be away from other vehicle that might provide a jump - I'll have a jump pack. Pretty much this. I keep my batteries...
  17. Adaptive Cruise - Is it worth waiting for?

Have had all of that on two Gladiators and totally wish my wife's JLU had it but finding a Reign JLU with that and a 3.6 was impossible, so we had to do without it. And I miss it badly. The headlights on my JTs always worked PERFECTLY - and we live in hills and winding curves and Iowa deer are...
  18. another ess question

I have proven that during an ESS stop, voltage on both batteries drops, almost in lock-step. The load during an ESS stop is split, not just tossed onto the aux battery. And, a lot of Jeep people have had the main fail and the aux battery still be ok - even though they let ESS keep working. But...
