  1. Caution: Broken Body Mount Bolt When Installing Frame Mount Rock Sliders / Rails / Sidesteps

I was thinking the same thing along the lines of pneumatic power vs battery. I’ve always used the impact with at least 100 psi; probably more. So this makes a lot of sense why my impact wasn’t hammering. Maybe all the other people who had good results, didn’t snap a bolt, were using high psi or...
  2. Caution: Broken Body Mount Bolt When Installing Frame Mount Rock Sliders / Rails / Sidesteps

There are impacts and there are hammer impacts; correct me if I'm wrong. I used a pneumatic, non-hammer, impact. Mine just rotates without any shock value with a high torque capacity. Mine is labeled "Impact" on its case, but I've never experienced a hammering effect from it. Yes, there are...
  3. Caution: Broken Body Mount Bolt When Installing Frame Mount Rock Sliders / Rails / Sidesteps

Yes, for the most part; I’ve read this entire thread. When I removed my body mount bolts, I didn’t even know about this problem. The majority of people using impacts didn’t break bolts. I did say majority; not everyone was so lucky. It’s simple physics; a body in motion stays in motion. Once...
  4. Caution: Broken Body Mount Bolt When Installing Frame Mount Rock Sliders / Rails / Sidesteps

It's called momentum. Using an impact works because you don't keep on stopping and starting the torque application. it also builds up a slight amount of heat and helps soften the red Loctite as it withdraws.
  5. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Thanks Dan for all of your responses; you caused me to breath a sigh of relief. I’ve read many of your posts especially the one where you talked about heavy duty mudding on the KO2 post with your 35’s. I deduced if anyone could be having clutch problems; you would surely experience it. I was...
  6. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

What would be good to know, how many people on this forum have had clutch problems, what their mileage is, how much heavier non-stock armor with larger than stock tires installed. Also how many people tow and get close to the 2k & 3.5k weight tow limit.
  7. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

The only way a clutch pressure plate assy can get that hot is if it’s drastically slipping. As a few people have experienced; you will know the clutch is slipping. Punch the gas pedal in 4th through 6th gear; if it bogs out; your clutch is ok. If it over accelerates, watch the tach rapidly move...
  8. Smoothest Riding 35 inch tire?

So you’re saying 5th is now the same ratio as 6th was before you went to the 37’s? I agree with you that 5th and 6th gears are fairly close in ratio. How many long steep hills do you encounter on a daily basis and how has the performance been affected climbing these hills? Do you ever use 6th...
  9. Smoothest Riding 35 inch tire?

Dan, do you have the 6 speed manual tranny? If so, how much different was the gear ratio drivability when you went to the 315/70’s compared to the OEM 285’s? I realize this topic has been brought up many other places within this forum, but not specifically with the KO2’s. Somebody else said the...
  10. It ticks me off when other drivers....................

I really believe the majority of people don’t have the eye/foot mental coordination and capability to leave a 2 - 3 second space between them and the car they’re following. Correct driving and following distance is based on looking farther ahead then 6” in front of their bumper. When these...
  11. 3.6L ESS Aux Battery Bypass

Excellent procedure; the most simplest route is always the best. If I disconnect the hood open switch, to disable ESS, will there be any related problems other than the dash warning light?
  12. Smoothest Riding 35 inch tire?

Thanks for the picture response. Looks like you still have stock wheels?
  13. Smoothest Riding 35 inch tire?

Do you have any lift on your JLUR? Was wondering if you hit the fenders with the KO2 315's.
  14. Almost Spun Out - What Went Wrong?

Stopped in at my local FCA dealer where I purchase my JL Rubicon. Service checked my Jeep for any fault codes; nothing at all. Which means the traction control is working. I asked them if it will spin when punched in first or second gear on a wet road; they said yes. My dash light does come...
  15. Almost Spun Out - What Went Wrong?

I’ve had this happen often in wet conditions as well. Can someone answer the question, does traction control or should traction control intervene or does it only work in 4WD to correct the slide?
  16. Misguided beliefs you find annoying

What annoys me is all of the unrelated threads to this post. My annoying subject for misguided beliefs is the cheap budget spacer lift. This does lift the vehicle, but totally places the suspension out of factory configuration alignment and could cause death wobble.
  17. "Guess what the Porsche Boxster and Cayman are being traded in for"

IMO, that’s part of the reason SUV’s are so popular in this country because of the deplorable road conditions.
  18. Manual vs Automatic for first Wrangler

IMO a manual driver is a better driver. I know I will get some flak from saying this, but it’s true. With a manual you have to pay attention to the terrain at all times to be in the correct gear for hills and corners. You also have to pay attention in the city to get ready for a stop sign or a...
